Sharp PH’s Eco-Vision: Making a difference, one fridge and tree at a time

Recognizing the need for environmental responsibility and in response to the growing urgency of environmental issues, brands worldwide are now shifting towards more sustainable practices — or at least trying to slowly integrate them in their production line. While Sharp Corporation has already long integrated eco-friendly features in their appliances, they are promising to go above and beyond through their Eco Vision 2050 — a comprehensive plan aimed at resource recycling, safety, security, and combating climate change through Sharp Philippines.

While “combating climate change” may sound like a long shot, this long-term initiative underscores Sharp’s commitment to minimizing environmental impact across its various business activities, aligning with global efforts to address pressing ecological concerns.

Starting with the Caring for the Next Generation campaign, Sharp Philippines has launched the Be Sharp, Plant a Tree for a Greener Future initiativerunningfrom March 15 to June 15, 2024. With this, The company aims to plant a thousand trees to help mitigate the effects of climate change and contribute to a healthier, more sustainable world – starting with the Philippines.

Partnering with the Nature Awareness & Conservation Club, Inc., affiliated with the Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR), Sharp Philippines aims to leverage their expertise in social and environmental responsibility programs, particularly in mangrove and upland tree planting activities.

We have a part to play in this, too! Sharp Philippines is set to plant a mangrove tree for every participating Sharp refrigerator model purchased until June 15. These will be planted during the low tide season from May to June along coastal sites in Bataan and Batangas, serving as vital ecosystems that protect coastlines, provide marine habitats, and sequester carbon. Those who will be purchase refrigerators during the campaign period will also be receiving an electronic certificate as tokens of appreciation for their environmental stewardship. It does not stop there, though. With or without buying a product, everyone is free to join and participate in the actual tree planting activities.
