Derma-approved DIY Facial: Luminisce Citrine Peel treatment that you can do at home

Aside from being in quarantine at home for six months and counting, we also haven’t had the chance to get well-deserved skin pampering at skin clinics for that long. To address this concern, Luminisce Skin Clinic continues to attend to their clients’ skincare needs through facial-at-home kits and online consultations that anyone can get without leaving the comfort of their homes.

As a monthly visitor of Luminisce, I got the chance to try one of their newly launched DIY kits and I’m here to tell you all about it in case you also want to avail this new service that is safe to do on your own. The facial-at-home kit that I got is called Citrine Peel – a treatment that is recommended for those with acne, blackheads, whiteheads, and hyperpigmentation concerns. This treatment helps unclog pores and remove dead skin cells minus the unnecessary visible peeling. Dead skin is removed through microexfoliation; however, it’s a must to follow all the reminders provided by dermatologists during your online consultation.

WHAT’S IN THE KIT

Each Citrine Peel Facial-At-Home Kit contains a Citrine Peel, Post-Peel Cream, Neutralizer, Ethyl Alcohol, and Cotton Swab. It may not look like a lot but believe me, those are more than enough for one treatment!

HOW IT’S DONE

To purchase a kit, simply get in touch with their representative via call, Facebook, or Instagram. Your chosen kit will be delivered to your preferred address and you will be scheduled for a one-on-one online consultation with Luminisce’s resident dermatologist. During the online video call, precautions and instructions will be explained so you can apply the treatment correctly. I highly advise that you ask all your questions during the 30-minute call so you can confidently apply the serums and creams.

For the Citrine Peel, it comes with directions for use, but so you’ll have an idea, here’s what I followed:

1. Prepare a basin with cold water, cotton pads, alcohol, and other contents of the kit.

2. Cleanse your face using the cotton moistened with alcohol.

3. Dip the cotton stick applicator onto the citrine peel and stroke onto jaw to cheekbones in an upward motion. Dip again and work on the other side of the jaw and cheeks, left and right side of the nose, upper lip, and lower lip going down the chin.

3. Leave it for two minutes and observe if there is frosting – clumpy white spots, and apply neutralizing agent if there’s any.

4. Apply a post-peel cream thinly on red areas to avoid irritation.

After doing this treatment, remember that it’s a must to avoid putting on makeup or washing your face for at least 6 hours. Sun exposure is also highly discouraged since there is still microexfoliation happening even though the peeling part isn’t visible to the naked eye. Moisturizer and sunblock are highly encouraged!

It’s quick and easy, although I must admit that I was too shaky since this is my first time to work with items that are used by professionals. At first, I was also scared to use up too much product since there might not be enough, but in the end, I realized that Luminisce already provided more than enough for one treatment. In fact, I believe I can still use the rest for the next month! It’s like applying our usual skincare products, but the difference is that the directions must be followed carefully.

OTHER FACIAL-AT-HOME KITS

Aside from the Citrine Peel, Luminisce also offers Acne Drying System to control breakouts, Luxury Facial for skin rejuvenation and hydration, and Radiance Lift Facial to help re-energize dull pigmented skin. All these come with needed instructions and tools that you may need, but it’s important to still consult their representative for any skin concern that you may have. Price also varies per kit.

IS IT A GO OR A NO-NO?

It’s a GO for me, especially now that it’s not yet fully safe to leave our houses due to the COVID-19 pandemic. It may be a bit uncomfortable at first, but DIY treatments will do for now. The downside of doing the treatment on our own is that we won’t be able to relax as much as we did back when we can just lie down in a skin clinic as skin experts attend to our concerns. It’s a learning opportunity and the relaxation part can just come afterwards. Just make sure to allot enough time for treatments like this since it requires specific steps vs. quick cream or serum applications. I’d definitely try the treatment again soon, but I also can’t wait for things to go back to normal so I can go back to Luminisce.
