Long live, ripped jeans! Starting from the hard rock era in the 1980s, the trend’s comeback in the 2000s seem to prosper until today. Thanks to icons like actor-singer Matteo Guidicelli and celebrity designer Avel Bacudio; this fashion staple, along with the other types of jeans that you can think of, will be staying in stores (or at least in e-commerce platforms) throughout the year.
This new line was showcased last Tuesday (July 3, 2018) at One Canvas in Makati City, just as Shopee officially launched their Shopee Celebrity Club – a curated collection of products by local celebrities, which include brand ambassador Anne Curtis, Avel Bacudio, Matteo Guidicelli, Vice Ganda, Kris Aquino, Korina Sanchez, and more.

The star-studded event was graced by other personalities such as Sarah Geronimo, Vhong Navarro, JC de Vera, Elmo Magalona, and Donny Pangilinan. Matteo not only gave the media a peek at his new collection, but also serenaded all the guests with his band. He also shared his journey in partnering with Avel and Shopee:
“The whole concept started last year. I was really into ripped jean. Everyone would tell me ‘Oh, sira na yung jeans mo, bili ka ng bago’, and I was very passionate about it, sabi ko ‘Avel, can we make a collaboration together?’ then after a few months, he said yes, and after a year, here we are,” shared Matteo. “I’m finally able to share these ripped, stretch and lightweight jeans with everyone. This is my first time venturing into the fashion industry- collaborating with Avel and launching exclusively in Shopee make it extra special for me.”

Of course, it’s not all about the profit for Matteo. 20% of each purchase priced at P1,499 will be going to their chosen beneficiaries for the project. From ripped jeans, skinny jeans, distressed jeans, acid-washed jeans, mid-rise jeans, straight jeans, you name it – they have it!
“The team behind Avel x Matteo is amazing. They make things happen… When you buy using the app of Shopee PH, a percentage of the sales goes to a very very important advocacy of ours,” said Mateo.
“Actually, when I asked Matteo about my advocacy, hindi siya nagdalawang-isip. My advocacy is for visually-impaired Filipino children… Sabi ko kay pareng Matteo, hindi man nila makita kung gaanong kaganda ang mundo, hindi man nila makit kung paano sumikat o bumaba ang araw, mabigay naman natin sa kanila yung pagmamahal na mararamdaman nila,” added Avel.
