Smartphones today aren’t just about staying connected — they’re our cameras, our gaming consoles, our productivity tools, and our everyday companions. That’s why every new release needs to prove it can keep up with the demands of modern life and not just rely on the main specs it advertises. In the case of realme 16 Pro 5G with claims of being the #200MPPortraitMaster backed by Dimensity 7300 Max, and 7000mAh battery, does it deliver more than these highlights, especially with a Php 31,999 SRP price tag? Here’s what we found out.
Design
Dubbed as an “Urban Wild Design”, my review unit in Pebble Grey is sleek with a matte finish that resists fingerprints. Although in my eyes, it looks more like a bluish grey. At just 7.75mm thin and 192g light, it’s comfortable to hold even during long commutes or gaming sessions. I don’t even mind holding it for an entire day while I’m outdoors since I rarely ever just leave my smartphone in my bag.

For those who want something more eye-catching, the realme 16 Pro 5G is also available in an Orchid Purple variant which has more personality than the Pebble Grey. You’d be able to appreciate the pop of color more when the clear case is attached.
It’s not all aesthetics, too! Beyond its appearance, the realme 16 Pro 5G is IP66, IP68, IP69, and IP69K-rated, which means it’s as dust-proof and as strong as the previous model in terms of water resistance. Maximum temperature resistance is also at 80°C so it shouldn’t be an issue when used within the Philippines’ scorching heat.

In terms of getting used to button locations, it should be easy for anyone who is familiar with Android devices. All the ports and buttons are where they’d typically be—volume rocker button and power/lock button are on the right side, IR blaster and secondary speakers/microphone are on top, while the SIM tray, microphone, USB-C port, speaker grille, and primary speakers are at the bottom.
At the back, you’ll find the camera module on the upper left corner. I appreciate this kind of setup more than the ones with separate bulging lenses as this looks way more professional. A realme logo can also be found on the lower left side of the device.
Display

In front, the realme 16 Pro 5G features a 6.78‑inch flat AMOLED display with 1.5K resolution (1272×2772 pixels), a 144Hz refresh rate, and 240Hz touch sampling. With a peak brightness of 6,500 nits, the screen stays visible even under harsh sunlight, making it usable during outdoor shoots or scrolling through socials on the go. Colors are vivid, details are sharp, and the flat panel design makes it practical for everyday use.
It’s also smart enough to adjust the refresh rate based on what you need so can still get a good balance of performance and battery life without having to manually adjust settings.
Storage and Performance
Powered by the MediaTek Dimensity 7300 Max (4nm) processor and Arm Mali‑G615 GPU, the realme 16 Pro 5G delivers smooth multitasking and gaming. With an AnTuTu score of 971,000+, it easily handles high‑resolution photo editing, video recording, and popular games like Mobile Legends and Call of Duty Mobile. And of course, hypercasual games work just as fine.

As someone who watches more videos than play games, I’d be able to comment more on the visuals. Using Netflix, HBO Go, and YouTube do not have issues so far. Colors are also vibrant, videos look sharp, and while screen remains visible under bright sunlight, it’s the type that won’t hurt your eyes while staring at the screen in the dark. Paired with speakers on both sides of the device, you’d be able to enjoy your binge-watching session any time. While volume can be cranked up to 300%, doing so will make the phone vibrate a bit in your hands so I would suggest that you keep it around 70-80% or better yet, opt for earphones to completely avoid any kind of sensation in your hands.
Variants include 8GB+256GB and 12GB+512GB, with Dynamic RAM Expansion boosting total RAM up to 26GB. Storage uses UFS 3.1, ensuring fast read/write speeds. Paired with the Airflow Vapor Chamber Cooling System, performance stays consistent even during extended gaming marathons.
Camera
Going to the highlight: The realme 16 Pro 5G has a 200MP LumaColor main camera (Samsung S5KHP5 sensor, f/1.8, OIS + EIS), it’s capable of lossless zoom photography, 30x digital zoom for photos, and 4K video recording at 30fps. Supporting lenses include an 8MP ultra‑wide (112° FoV) and a 50MP front camera with 4K video at 30fps.

My favorite part would be its Portrait camera which naturally separates the subject from its background without changing skintone and colors.

In front, selfies look natural, but I prefer using the main camera at this point. Skin tone optimization and depth‑of‑field fusion blur still applies when using the front cam so you won’t need to worry about taking clear groufies, too.

While most of the photos already look great as they are, this smartphone has a lot of AI features that elevate the experience: There’s AI Edit Genie 2.0 (LightMe, StyleMe, Inspiration) for creative edits, AI Ultra Clarity to sharpen old or blurry shots, AI Perfect Shot to find the best cropped angle, Portrait Glow for adjustable lighting intensity, and AI Eraser to remove unwanted objects/people in the shot.

Snaps look balanced and social media-ready so I barely made edits aside from the AI Perfect Shot for auto cropping. The only downside for me when it comes to camera is its zoom capabilities which start to look too fuzzy beyond the 10x mark. You can still push up to 30x zoom but so far, the results have been smudged-looking.

Battery
Another selling point of the realme 16 Pro 5G is its 7,000mAh battery built for endurance. With moderate use, we ended the day with more than half left. Heavy users will love the 80W SUPERVOOC charging, which gets you to 100% in about an hour, too!
Battery life estimates include 125.5 hours of Spotify, 21 hours of YouTube, 9.3 hours of minimal gaming, and 20 hours of WhatsApp, in case you want to plan an entire day of lounging with just your pphone.
Extras like reverse charging (10W) and bypass charging make it practical for powering accessories or preserving battery health as well.
Price and Where to Buy
The realme 16 Pro 5G is available in the Philippines in Pebble Grey and Orchid Purple for Php 31,999 SRP but you can get it now for a discounted price of P29,999 (8GB+256GB) and Php 35,999 (12GB+512GB) via realme’s official Shopee page.
You can also purchase it from official realme stores nationwide, online via Lazada or through Home Credit (as low as ₱43/day) and major credit cards (up to 18 months, 0% interest).
Overall, if you ask me, the realme 16 Pro 5G is a good all-rounder. While it does flex its camera capabilities specifically in marketing materials, it delivers much more than that. It nails the essentials — design, performance, battery — while giving you a decent camera setup which is almost perfect if not for its inconsistent zoom outputs.
For anyone looking for a phone that can double as a workhorse and a creative tool, the realme 16 Pro 5G (8GB+256GB) is a solid choice if you have Php 31,999 to spare. It may sound pricier than competitors with similar specs, but purchasing it during sale season would give you better deals.
And in case you’re wondering, I’ve already upgraded my secondary/work phone to this one. So far, so good!
