Easy-to-remember supplement guide for a healthier 2023

For the past few years, I’ve always been putting “healthier 202x” in my New Year’s Resolutions but my focus has always been on shifting to healthier food and constant workout. These aren’t enough when it comes to supplying my body with the vitamins and minerals that I need, though! So I’ve recently explored supplements but it’s honestly hard to understand especially since there’s way too much options in the market. Vitamins C and D are a given but here are three other natural supplements that I’ve added to my daily intake:

Antioxidants

What it’s for: Anti-aging, skin moisture, skin damage prevention, improves skin micro texture

To consider: LifeFood Astaxanthin (UNILAB)

Antioxidants are known for lessening the effects of free radicals that can cause diseases and oxidative stress to the skin that may lead to premature aging. While taking care of our physical appearance through facials and creams, antioxidants like Astaxanthin can support this from within. According to the brand, LifeFood Astaxanthin is 500 times stronger than purely Vitamin E and 6,000 times stronger than Vitamin C alone. This specific brand has the highest dosage (12mg) available locally. It helps support the body’s anti-aging functions, improve the skin’s integrity and moisture levels, and prevent UV-induced skin damage.

Curcumin

What it’s for: Natural antioxidant, manages general inflammation (pain relief, arthritis, body aches, etc), improves gut health

Intake: Once a day

To consider: LifeFood Curcumin

Curcumin has been recognized for its anti-inflammatory effects, often used as a natural pain relief for arthritis and many types of pain and aches. LifeFood Curcumin contains 500mg of Meriva — a proprietary blend of turmeric extract with 29x more cucuminoid absorption. This is said to help improve gut health among other benefits. Some study even suggest that turmeric can help improve memory and lower risk of heart diseases. Another thing I like about these supplements in capsule form is that they’re easy to take compared with the tea version which takes me a really long time to finish!

Collagen

What it’s for: Reduces skin dullness, boosts collagen production for healthier skin, hair, and nails

Intake: Once a day

To consider: LifeFood Collagen Jelly

I’ve written about the wonders of collagen repeatedly in my blog but one of my favorite discoveries this year is collagen in jelly form — LifeFood Collagen Jelly. It’s a fruity snack that reduces skin dullness caused by melanin formation and helps boost collagen production. This means healthier and more supple skin, hair, and nails. Every stick contains 2500mg of collagen, along with litchi seed extract to further stimulate collagen, pomegranate essence to help brighten the skin, and grape skin extract to help prevent free radicals from damaging the skin. Super yummy, too!

Conjugated Linoleic Acid (CLA)

What it’s for: Metabolism, improves body composition, increases muscle retention

Intake: Once a day

To consider: LifeFood Tonalin CLA

CLAs are natural fatty acids that may help get rid of stubborn love handles as it bolsters metabolic activity and converts food into energy. It’s a good supplement to pair with your workout as it can support body composition improvement. LifeFood Tonalin CLA, when combined with a balanced diet and exercise, can do just that and it’s even proven to reduce up to 9% body fat! Backed by 18 separate research studies in case you’re wondering on the efficacy.

Doctor-recommended supplements

Lastly, when it comes to supplements and other dietary additions, always remember to consult your doctor to know what’s best for you and your lifestyle. The supplements above are for people like me who are almost always on the go, has brittle nails and thin hair strands, nearing 30s, and has a consistent workout routine. A friendly reminder that these supplements shouldn’t be used as substitute to your medications, too! These exist to help provide the nutrients that don’t usually go into our food.

That’s all for today. May we all have a healthier and stronger 2023!
