When we have our face masks on, we rely on our eyes to leave an impression. However, for people like me who are not blessed with long eyelashes, it can be challenging to solely rely on eyeliners and eyeshadow and to be honest, it takes up a lot of time. This is the reason why I sometimes turn to eyelash extension salons for a bit of help. When I put on long lash extensions, I get to take a break from wearing eyeliner. Plus, it makes me look fresh and awake!
In case you’re wondering, I’ve already tried other alternatives like glue-on false eyelashes (also known as “falsies”) and magnetic falsies but I never got the hang of it. I easily lose the small parts of magnetic falsies while it takes me way more time to put on glue-on lashes vs doing my whole makeup. Not kidding. For months when I have a lot of appointments and events that require me to look presentable, I go for temporary eyelash extensions that can last 3-4 weeks, just like the one at Luminisce Holistic Skin and Laser Clinic.
Since they’re treating the eczema on my arms and legs, I thought of giving it a try. And because this is a new service at the clinic, let me give you a glimpse of my experience.
WHAT TO EXPECT
Before booking for an appointment, make sure to allot 1-2 hours for your visit. You’ll be asked to sign an online form and submit a copy of your COVID-19 vaccine shot for their staff and customers’ safety. On the actual day, Luminisce will ask you to change to their robe for a relaxing session and also probably to maintain cleanliness inside their facility. There’s a separate changing room for this! After that, you’ll be escorted to your private room. These are my favorite things about Luminisce: PRIVACY, CLEANLINESS, and AFFORDABILITY. You won’t see other customers inside the clinic because only Luminisce staff and doctors will enter your room. The beds and towels are clean, everything smells clean, the place is fully airconditioned, and you can even peacefully sleep as they work on your lashes. You’ll see everyone wearing a scrub suit, face mask, gloves, and even face shield (as needed).
According to Luminisce, their Natural Lash is made from human hair so it’s soft and lightweight. Seeing the individual strands left me in awe so I’m sharing a photo for your appreciation as well:
I was requested to sign a consent form to ensure that I’m aware of possible side effects. After that, I was asked what length and type of curl I’d like to avail but I wasn’t sure what would look best on my eyes aside from the usual 11 B-Curl and “Cat’s Eye” effect that other lash salons use, so I consulted them for expert advice. They recommended a mix of 10, 11, and 12mm lengths of D-Curl lashes to create a volumized mascara-like effect. A total of 150 pieces of hair was used to create my look but it does not feel like 150! Super lightweight and pretty!
If you’d like to try it yourself, note that you shouldn’t attempt to open your eyes (even if unintentionally) while the extensions are being glued on each of your lash strands. Although a tape will be used to ensure that you won’t move your eyelids, there’s still a tendency for it to open slightly – depending on how still you are. Their glue is quite strong so be careful not to move. If you start to feel a bit of stinging, ask for a portable fan or their air pump to help address it. It’s manageable so don’t worry.
Since I got extensions for volume in three different sizes, the lashes were longer than I initially expected. It’s a good thing, though! Mine doesn’t look natural but it’s the type of lashes I’d love to show off at events or when doing photoshoots. No need for heavy eye makeup if you have eyelashes this long! Similar to other eyelash salons that I’ve tried before, Luminisce says that their Naturale Lash can last up to 3-4 weeks. After all, the natural life cycle of human lash is approximately 60 to 90 days.
I’d definitely go back here for retouches. If you’re going to celebrate your debut, engagement party, wedding, or anniversary soon, this is a nice-to-have to make your eyes more… eye-catching! 😉
They also provide a small paper with aftercare instructions that you can keep for reference, which I really appreciate as I easily forget stuff! Lash technicians usually just tell me to wait for 4 hours before washing my face but Luminisce’s list is way more detailed. Their list includes keeping the eye area dry for 2-4 hours after the lash extension service and avoiding sauna/steam facilities for the first two days.
If you’re wearing eyelash extensions, take note that you can’t use an eyelash curler or other oil-based makeup products around your eyes. Doing so can damage the extensions and your lashes, and cause them to fall off.
As of February 2022, Luminisce offers natural-looking extensions at Php 2,500 while volumized sets are priced at Php 3,000 – no matter what the length is. I’ve been to lash salons that offer their services at Php 5,000 and above depending on the number of lashes for the same lightweight extensions but considering the location and privacy that Luminisce offers, I’m making a switch!
Lash extension services are offered in all Luminsce branches (BGC, Alabang, and Podium Mall), but I highly recommend that you call them for an appointment before dropping by. I’m a suki at their BGC branch!

P.S. I’m looking for a nice brow threading or waxing place in BGC. Any recos? 🙂
