A friendly reminder that it’s Mother’s Day on Sunday (May 10, 2020)! While we can no longer celebrate outside due to the extended community quarantine (ECQ), we’ve gathered a list of things that we can give to our moms even while staying at home. I’d like to believe that there are also people like me who have ran out of cash at home and are relying on online payments, so the ideas below are all PayMaya-friendly.
For those who are not yet familiar with PayMaya: It’s a virtual reloadable card within an app that you can use instead of entering your bank details in random websites. It’s safer, in my opinion. Just make sure to load it only with money that you need for transactions.
1. Netflix subscription for moms who love to binge-watch
If your mom loves binge-watching movies and series on her spare time (like my mom), a Netflix subscription sounds pretty neat! It’s useful and it can keep them company during and after ECQ. Add snacks from Landers and Super8 if you want to give her that full movie house experience! All these can be paid online via PayMaya. Just key in your mobile number at the check out page and you’re done! Balik Bayad cashback is also ongoing so there’s a chance to receive 100% of your money back.
2. Artsy cards or memorabilia – just like when we were young
I repeat – it’s the thought that counts when it comes to giving gifts during ECQ. It’s challenging to buy stuff so I’m pretty sure moms would understand. For those who are feeling artsy-fartsy, a card or a scrapbook can work! This might work for senti moms. In case you need art materials, National Bookstore at Lazada is already accepting orders! Your PayMaya account can be used upon checking out as well.
3. Food because we can never go wrong with food!
A Sunday meal so mom wouldn’t need to cook anymore. I’m sure she’ll love it! PayMaya is honored at the following restaurants:
- McDonald’s
- Goldilocks (if you wanna grab a cake!)
- Army Navy
- Shakey’s (because pizza!!)
- Red Ribbon
- Chowking
- Burger King
- Domino’s Pizza (another option for pizza!)
- Sariwon Korean Barbecue (while watching K-drama)
- Soban K-Town Grill
- Sibyullee Unlimited Korean BBQ
4. This month’s bills, bills, bills!
Another practical gift during this challenging period is one month’s worth of bills. It can be a grocery bill from her online shopping, postpaid plan bill, electricity bill, and the list goes on! You can even get P100 Balik Bayad when you pay a PLDT bill worth at least P1,000 this month, as well as P50 Balik Bayad for Smart and Sun postpaid bills.
5. An e-numan with relatives for those who are away from their mom during this time
Not everyone lives with their moms, of course! For those who weren’t able to go back to their families before the lockdown, a simple video call celebration with the family could work! Set up a wine e-numan (inuman) or celebration with the help of data packages that you can buy via the app.
If you don’t have your own PayMaya account yet, it’s easy to sign up in time for Mother’s Day! Just download the PayMaya app for Android or iOS, register your own account and provide necessary IDs for security, and start shopping online! Been using mine for years now and I’m making the most out of every cashback. Thought you should know this tipid hack, too!

For me as a mom, dun ako sa practical way of giving a gift hehe. Grocery is happiness ng mga nanay 🤗😅😅😅
At syempre sa food din yung tipong sama sama kayo kakain ng family mo. 🤗
Thanks for sharing this tips Ms.Ces.❤️😍
Love the list! Natuwa ako dun sa e-numan, first time ko nabasa. Yung bills payment, sure akong matutuwa ang mothers natin, patong-patong na ang bills.
