No card, no problem! Here’s how you can use your PayMaya mobile number for online deals

I’d like to believe that I’m not the only person in the world who finds it hard to memorize debit and credit card numbers plus, I’m still wary about keying in my card details online in fear possible fraud. If you feel the same way about random card numbers, then this new online payment option that we recently encountered would probably be able to help you. I was browsing new deals via Eatigo Market – a deals-filled page of the Eatigo app that I’ve only discovered recently, when I saw a “PayMaya Wallet” option that redirects me straight to the PayMaya page for easy checkout just by using my mobile number!

PayMaya, a mobile payment account which serves as a virtual prepaid card for shopping online, recently introduced Pay with PayMaya – a new convenient way to pay online using only your mobile number linked to your app! Through this payment option, we no longer need to go through the tedious process of entering our card details and rummaging through our bags for that one little card. You can’t use just anyone’s mobile number, though! With every purchase made through your mobile number, PayMaya sends a one-time pin (OTP) to ensure that the payment is made by the real account holder. All these will only take a few minutes – enough for you to check out that last piece of item online before someone else beats you to it. There were still 100 available deals when I checked out my Buy 1, Take 1 coffee but you know how fast these things get sold out, especially during the holiday season.

HOW I SAVED THROUGH AN EATIGO DEAL

Since I’m on cheapskate mode due to holiday expenses, I opted to look for a place that sells coffee on a discount via Eatigo for my meetup with a friend on Saturday. There’s a place called Mrs. V Restobar in Makati that offers their House Blend Coffee for only P80 via Eatigo – and they’re on Buy 1, Get 1! What a steal from the usual P160 price, right? Since there are only limited coupons available, I checked out in less than a minute with just a few steps. Here’s how:

1. Go to ‘Eatigo Market’ via the Eatigo app and selected the deal that you want. In my case, it’s the House Blend Coffee.

2. Select date of redemption. I chose Saturday, December 21 on the app.

3. Choose the quantity that you want to purchase under ‘deal review’ and click ‘BUY NOW’.

4. Select ‘PayMaya Wallet’ so you can get redirected to the PayMaya page.

5. Enter your PayMaya mobile number/ email and password.

6. Input the One-Time Password that you received and wait for the confirmation message to appear.

7. Go to the ‘My Deals’ tab to view your purchase and click ‘Redeem’ when you’re ready to use it!

You’ll be able to view how much money you have left after every purchase so you don’t need to worry about going beyond your budget. The same steps apply to other PayMaya partner merchants. What would differ would probably just be the term that they’re using upon checkout. Just make sure to choose the online/debit card option and look for PayMaya.

Easy-peasy! Just make sure that you were able to load up your PayMaya account before making a purchase. Alternatively, you can also use your PayMaya virtual card details from your phone if ever the website doesn’t support a ‘Pay with PayMaya’ feature.

WHERE TO USE IT

Take note that not all websites and shopping apps have this convenient feature, though! For extra discounts, you can check the deals available at Booky, Bo’s Coffee, Army Navy, Dominos, Shakey’s, Goldilocks, Zubuchon, and Boozy. For shopping needs, you can also check out your items via Landers, Rustans, VMV Hypoallergenics, and Rose Pharmacy. For those who need to pay bills every month, this new feature is also applied to government websites such as PRC, DTI, Pag-Ibig, DOST, SSS, DFA, and PhilHealth! There are currently over 150 merchants nationwide that accept this payment, so rest assured that it’s secured and 100% legitimate.

Complete list of merchants can be found in this link.

WHY USE IT

Every purchase using Pay with PayMaya rewards users with cashbacks! For all transactions made today until January 15, 2020, users will receive 1%, 10%, or 100% cashback capped at P500 per transaction! Who doesn’t like extra savings this Christmas, anyway? This will save you from the hassle of constantly waiting for couriers to arrive just to pay via COD as well! I haven’t experienced any payment problem yet with this app and I find it really easy to use. Their service center can also easily be reached via call at (+632) 8845-7788 or email at support@paymaya.com. So if you’re shopping online, always remember: Don’t pay cash, PayMaya!

My extra brain cells would like to thank PayMaya for this new payment option. Memorizing a mobile number sounds waaay easier than memorizing card details! I was already able to score an awesome B1T1 deal from Eatigo and now, I’m also entitled for more cashback. That’s like two times the deal!
