Visa x Maya Black host one-night Tokyo cocktail experience in Makati

As someone who’s always itching to fly back to Japan, my weekly matcha and sushi fixes here in Manila just don’t cut it. That’s why whenever I see invites to Japanese‑inspired events, I’m quick to hit “going.” Case in point: We’ve Got a Problem Vol. 2: Tokyo Shift. Last Thursday (June 25, 2026), Visa and Maya Black brought Tokyo’s world‑class cocktail scene straight to Problem Child in Makati for one night only, no passport required.

Instead of hopping on a plane, I got to experience the artistry of Kyoka Ogawa, one of Japan’s most celebrated bartenders, right here in Manila. Maya Black Visa Credit Cardholders all gathered to see what happens when Tokyo meets Makati nightlife.

The spotlight was on Ogawa’s event‑exclusive drinks which are just as pretty as they taste. The Exotic Garden was unlike anything I’ve tried before — Silent Pool gin mixed with tomato, elderflower, timut pepper, and tonic. It sounds wild, but it tasted fresh and layered, like a garden party in a glass! Then there was One Night Problem, a bold mix of tequila, bergamot pomelo, scarlet amaro, and red wine. It had that punchy kick but softened with citrus and wine, perfect for slow sipping while catching up with friends. These were my top picks out of that night’s menu.

Making the night even smoother, paying was made effortless with Maya Black. I literally just tapped my card and went back to enjoying the drinks. No cash, no hassle, just pure convenience. It felt like the kind of night where you could go out with friends carrying nothing but your card and still have access to experiences that feel world‑class.

The after‑party kept the energy going with more specially crafted cocktails from Problem Child, and the crowd — a mix of Manila’s food, beverage, lifestyle, and creative communities — stayed long after the guest shift ended. I honestly wish we had more events like this around Manila! If this night was any indication of what Visa and Maya Black have planned for cardholders, then I’m definitely keeping an eye out for the next side quest (maybe as a barista next time, kidding!).
