There comes a point in every millennial’s life when “my parents’ house” is no longer the default. We start moving out, building our own spaces, and realizing that the living room, bedroom, and even the laundry area deserve more than just hand‑me‑downs. That’s exactly where I found myself when I walked into the newly reopened SM Home Makati just to check it out and take photos for the blog, no big plans. However, I left with a head full of ideas on how to design everything from the dining table to the bedroom sanctuary… and a couple of new stuff for home use!

The flagship store has undergone their most complete transformation yet. They’re not just the usual aisles of products, but spaces that look and feel like real homes. Walking through the eight zones — Kitchen, Dining Room, Living Room, Bedroom, Bathroom, Storage Solutions, Laundry & Cleaning, and Gift Registry — felt like stepping into different chapters of a millennial’s home journey. The dining room wasn’t just plates stacked on shelves, it was a table already set, waiting for a family dinner. The bedroom wasn’t just mattresses lined up, it was a cozy retreat reminding us that sleep is the foundation of everything else.
“Filipinos have always known that home is more than a place. It is sanctuary. It is where family breathes, where life is organized, where comfort is made. That truth has always been at the heart of SM Home. What changes today is how seriously we commit to serving it,” shares Janice T. Yang, Business Unit Head, SM Home

The renewal also brings celebrated home brands under one roof. Breville and Hario anchor the morning ritual with espresso machines and brewers. Don Bellini and Bonna elevate the dining table with stylish tableware. KitchenAid powers the working kitchen, while Philippine Wine Merchants completes the entertaining story. For the bedroom, Serta promises sleep quality that millennials desperately need, and HiEssence diffusers turn rooms into moods. Even local art finds its place in the Living Room zone, proving that Filipino creativity belongs in our homes, not just galleries.
For every millennial who’s finally refreshing their bedroom, the couple debating over their first sofa, or the parent wanting the dining room to feel like the heart of the house, Rediscover SM Home was built for all of us. With 78 branches nationwide, SM Home Makati is just the beginning of a bigger national story. And for me, it was proof that inspiration can strike when you least expect it. I walked in curious, but walked out imagining the kind of home I want to build — one that feels like mine, at every stage, in every room, in every season of life.
Check it out soon by visiting the 5th floor of SM Makati.
