What to expect from Tastemakers #TaraMercatoTayo at Paseo De Roxas, Makati

Mercato Centrale is back to treat our tastebuds with the second leg of Tastemakers and this time, it’s not only a fusion of different cuisines but also a partnership between established groups — Mercato Centrale, Make-It-Makati, Imaginarium Creatives, and Vintage Cars Philippines!

Before you head over to Makati City, here’s a quick guide from parking down to the list of vendor partners:

Paseo De Roxas Street by the Ayala Triangle Gardens will be closed to traffic from April 15-16, 2023 from 5:30 PM to 12 AM to make way for the Tastemakers event. Admission is free so expect a crowd during dinner time! Tables are also limited but since it’s near Ayala Triangle Gardens, it’s easy to find a bench inside or near the park. During our visit, we had to stay along the steps near the underpass but it’s okay since the area is clean. I would suggest that you bring a mini fan as it can get humid from time to time. You’d definitely go home a bit sweaty and smelling like ihaw — which I don’t think is a bad thing, considering that you’re visiting the area for both street food and gourmet.

For those who will be driving to the venue, parking slots are available at the Tower One and Exchange Plaza Basement, Gabriela Silang Parking, Dela Rosa Carpark I, Greenbelt 5, and Ayala Triangle. Would suggest Ayala Triangle as it’s the nearest!

Fur parents are also allowed to bring their pets to chill and dine so expect to see a lot of dogs and cats at the venue. WKND Coffee Co. even offers free Puppuccino for them!

As for the food, expect ihaw-ihaw to gourmet ulam, coffee to beer, and Korean fishcake and tteokbokki to Filipino meals. It’s a mix of crowd favorites! Vendor partners include Crave It, Tuna Town, Takoichi, Prawn Star PH, Karabella, El Chupacabra, Salmon HQ, WKND Coffee Co., Heineken, J&D Japanese Takoyaki, and more.

I would suggest that you try the Cheesy Cajun Baked Oyster (Php 60 each) from Prawn Star PH, tea from WKND Coffee, and salmon selection at Salmon HQ. Those are my top picks aside from the classic Isaw, Betamax, and Barbecue priced at Php 35 each at the venue!

To make the food experience even more special, vintage cars from Vintage Cars Philippines are also on display at Paseo De Roxas. Visitors can snap a photo here and check out the cars up-close!

The Makati Street Meet will be held every month, Saturday to Sunday of every first Payday weekend. This month, Mercato Centrale’s next stop would be Fort Santiago, Intramuros on April 18 so you might want to save the date as well!
