Goodbye, PayMaya! Hello, Maya!
Finance app PayMaya is taking the quote “out with the old, in with the new” to a whole new level! From being an e-wallet, PayMaya has recently rebranded to Maya — a powerhouse all-in-one money app which takes pride in being “everything and a bank”. Maya combines the popular PayMaya e-wallet with new features like cryptocurrency and an innovative digital banking experience powered by Maya Bank to allow users to spend, save with 0 maintaining balance, grow their money through its 6% interest, invest, and master their money through their smartphones.
Manila Millennial got early access to the new features of the app, so we’re spilling all the details that you should know! Maya now comes with an array of features that make money handling easier and more seamless:
Our current favorite! At the moment, no other digital bank is offering a 6% interest rate for savings accounts. Even though it’s only an introductory rate, this initial offer will be available until August 31, so we still have a lot of time to grow our funds. Maya is powered by the BSP-licensed digital bank Maya Bank. PayMaya users can opt to move their money from their e-wallet to Maya Savings with just a couple of taps in-app and earn interest on their balance! As of this writing, I have already earned a Php 2 interest within 48 hours. All you need is an upgraded Maya account to access this feature – and it requires no maintaining balance!
Even though it sounds really interesting, investing in Bitcoin, Ethereum, Solana, Tether, and other cryptocurrencies may seem like a daunting task for a newbie. I had 0 idea about how to enter the crypto world, too! Thanks to Maya and its easy-to-understand guides within the app, I was now able to buy my very first cryptocurrency without worries of getting scammed or not being able to track my progress. Buying and selling are made easy for users and we can now invest in crypto for as low as Php 1!
This is a virtual credit line that lets users borrow up to P15,000 within the app, which can be used to pay bills, buy groceries, purchase load, or upgrade your smartphone! This credit line can be accessed in as fast as 60 seconds for eligible users – giving us cash in a flash whenever we need it. It sounds like a lifesaver during emergencies but we’re hoping that we won’t need that soon. Gotta save up, but this will be my last resort.
Although this isn’t an entirely new feature, Maya Wallet now comes with a revamped customer experience. We can still enjoy free cash-in through over 90,000 touchpoints nationwide so that we can spend our money on the things that matter. This wallet is also connected to our Savings account so we can easily move our funds for safekeeping (and interest!).
Aside from the ones mentioned above, Maya is still cooking up additional features to improve their app. Here are the ones that I’m excited to try:
- We won’t need to memorize someone’s mobile number because transfers via username will be enabled soon!
- App view can be switched from light mode to dark mode and vice versa soon for people like me who prefer seeing a black interface.
- Lastly, goal-based savings will soon help us organize our savings — a separate storage for our emergency money, a house-and-lot wallet, a car savings pouch, and even a spot for travel funds!
Maya integrates all these features into one seamless in-app experience. This money app is easy to navigate – with Wallet, Savings, Credit, and Crypto, just a simple swipe or tap in one app.
Chance to Become a Bitcoin Millionaire
Aside from the launch of the improved all-in-one money app, Maya is also inviting everyone to join their Maya Early Access Challenge. Apart from being the first to experience Savings, Crypto, Credit, and more, joiners also have the chance to become the first-ever Maya bitcoin millionaire! All you have to do is take the challenge:
