realme Buds Q2: Aesthetically pleasing to the eye (and ears)!

If you’re looking for an eye-catching TWS that shows off your bubbly and fun personality, then this might be it. The realme Buds Q2 is now officially available in the Philippines and it’s offered in a Unique Blue color! A Unique Black variant will still be up for grabs for those who would like to stay neutral, though. However, aside from the aesthetically pleasing design, the realme Buds Q2 also provides decent audio which can be further optimized and customized using the realme Link app. After a few days of tests, here’s what we noticed.

Just like its predecessor – the realme Buds Q, the realme Buds Q2 also comes in a smooth cobblestone-like charging case with a matte finish. It only weights 39g for both the charging case and earbuds, and it’s very compact so it can definitely fit inside your bag or pocket. However, I noticed that the charging case seems to be a bit scratch-prone due to its smooth design so I would suggest that you keep it away from items that may possibly scratch the surface. The earbuds inside also has a matte-like finish, but it has this unique cut-shape aesthetic of kaleidoscopes that seem to shimmer whenever light hits it. This way, it’s easy for other people to tell that you have earbuds in your ears (a.k.a. DND mode). Even if you workout or walk around the house, the earbuds don’t fall off easily as long as you have the correct eartip size. Each box comes with 2 extra pairs in other sizes.

It also comes with a short yellow microUSB cable, which is very handy vs. having a long cable in your bag. You may not need this often, though, as the realme Buds Q2 can continue playing for up to 20 hours with its 400mAh battery in its charging case and built-in 40mAh battery in the earbuds. It can stay alive for the entire duration of 2 full-length movies or a 3-hour call. In terms of charging, it usually takes around 2.5 hours to fully charge the device, which is the average time for such TWS.

Despite being a budget TWS, the audio quality and its features are decent enough for day-to-day use. It boasts of an 88ms super low latency when its Gaming Mode is enabled during game time, environmental noise cancellation during calls, intelligent touch controls, and audio features – Bass Boost, Dynamic, and Bright, which make our audio experience more enjoyable.

In terms of connectivity, I didn’t experience any issue in pairing it with an iOS device, as well as a non-realme Android device. It worked like a normal Bluetooth TWS on others, but I was able to maximize the use of the other audio features in mobile phones with a realme Link app installed.

There are four pre-programmed controls to remember – double tapping to play or pause audio/video and as well as answer and end calls, triple tap to skip to the next song/video, long press one earbud to reject a call, and long press on both earbuds to enter or exit Gaming Mode.

As of this writing, the realme Buds Q2 is one of the few devices that made me say “wow” out loud upon opening the box. With an affordable price, decent audio, appealing color, and compact size, I’d say that this is a good option for millennials who need a TWS for gaming, soundtrip, and binge-watching videos. It’s a keeper for me!
