TASTE TEST: Jollibee Brown Sugar Milk Tea, Iced Coffee with Coffee Jelly

Didn’t expect that I’d be writing about this in detail today, but I’ve just received quite a lot of feedback on my Facebook page regarding my post about Jollibee‘s newest addition to their menu – the Brown Sugar Milk Tea and Iced Coffee with Coffee Jelly, so here you go!

I’ll be sharing the rating (again) and explain in detail why I gave the new drink such numbers in case you have doubts, but first, let’s consider a few things about my background: (1) Yes, I love coffee and milk tea but I’m not picky about the price tag nor the brand; (2) I’ve already tried coffee and milk tea from other fastfood chains but I chose not to post about them in detail ‘cos there’s nothing special; and (3) I’ve been in the house for over 30 days with only homemade beverages (and Coke) – worth mentioning.

Jollibee Philippines announced the availability of two new beverages on Wednesday (April 16, 2020) to encourage consumers to “cool down without going out”. Immediately, I thought “cool, my mom wanted to order food tomorrow so let’s give it a try”. Come Thursday, with a few taps via jollibeedelivery.com, I was able to place an order and it arrived after an hour despite the community quarantine (hands down to Jollibee staff for their hard work, we really thought it would take longer).

BROWN SUGAR MILK TEA WITH PEARLS

Final Rating: 8/10

Price: Php 83 (solo, delivery price)

Initially rated this a 9/10 but then I realized that I forgot about the “brown sugar” part of the drink. In my mind, I was drinking milk tea with an evident hint of tea – which I like, and completely forgot about what brown sugar is supposed to taste like. Jollibee’s version is more like a wintermelon flavor, far from the likes of Tiger Sugar but way better than other fastfood competitors. However, pearls are commendable – they’re chewy and gooey like a milk tea shop’s!

It’s not for slow drinkers since the ice tend to water down the taste after a few minutes (or hours, depending on how hot it is in your location). If it wasn’t called “brown sugar milk tea”, I would’ve given it a 10/10 for having the right blend of milk and tea. Not too sweet and not too bland!

ICED COFFEE WITH COFFEE JELLY

Final Rating: 15/10

Price: Php 65 (solo, delivery price)

Not overreacting, I’d put this second to Dunkin’ Donuts’ Iced Coffee if I want great-tasting coffee that is strong enough to keep me on my toes for at least half a day. That’s just me, though! The jelly isn’t as chewy as other brands’ but I like it this way – soft enough but not like a typical gulaman.

You’d really taste the coffee part of the drink! No hint of chocolate, ice cream-like flavor or other weird flavoring. Consistency isn’t thick either so it’s easy to drink. I have nothing more to say, I just love it! My sister likes it, too.

Will I buy again? A big yes for the Iced Coffee with Jelly, maybe from time to time for the Brown Sugar Milk Tea. The former is a clear winner. My lack of photos clearly show how enthusiastic I was to continue drinking that I didn’t even bother taking a photo of the actual drink. LOL!

Did you drink both drinks at the same time? Nope, my sister and I had to split the drinks so we can both try ’em. I would’ve wanted more Iced Coffee with Coffee Jelly but of course, equality should prevail.

HOW TO ORDER

Since we’re writing about this, let me clarify one thing: We do not encourage you to go out of the house just to buy coffee or milk tea. STAY AT HOME! Jollibee clearly encourages consumers to purchase food and drinks via delivery. There are 3 ways to do so:

  1. Call #8-7000
  2. Order online via jollibeedelivery.com
  3. Order via mobile apps – Grab or FoodPanda

However, take note that delivery time is only from 10:00 AM – 5:00 PM in compliance with the ongoing community quarantine.

If you have spare cash, please tip riders generously during this time. We wouldn’t be able to afford such luxury without them working amidst the pandemic. Thank them or treat them food if you can.

Note: Post is not sponsored, reactions are solely mine. If you have negative reactions, sorry but I don’t care because I-LOVE-IT. Period. No erase. #FactsOnly
