REVIEW: 12 hours with the So Natural ‘All Day Tight Make Up Setting FIXX’

Time to test a setting spray!

With a long name like All Day Tight Make Up Setting FIXX, this product may not really be the top of mind for consumers in the market. However, what caught our attention was its 2018 Beauty+ Editor’s Pick claim which we later on discovered to be its ranking in a blind test by K-Beauty professionals on “Get It Beauty”. Since we’ve been trying to look for a setting spray that we can use long-term, we picked FIXX among the new So Natural products that have been recently launched here in the Philippines.

Since it’s a Korean product, I had very high hopes on its longevity and effect so we took it on a 12-hour test over the weekend! Here’s a quick rundown of everything we know and have noticed about it:

PRODUCT CLAIMS

Based on the So Natural global website, the All Day Tight Make Up Setting Fixx is a “mist-type fog spray makeup fixer” that hydrates and moisturizes the skin while keeping your makeup intact. It claims to “stop makeup from falling” to maintain a perfect coverage. They also recommend it for people whose makeup usually cakes and clumps, those who have oily skin, and those who use makeup that get smudged easily.

There are three types of mists – the Original Makeup Fixer (vibrant effect), the Real-Matte Makeup Fixer (matte effect), and the Water Coating Makeup Fixer (dewy effect).

PACKAGING AND LABELS

Having 0 idea about what the product does, aside from being distributed by So Natural, I quickly checked the label before using the mist. However, it was quite disappointing that aside from the names of the companies and common warnings, everything else is in Korean. It also threw me off a bit when I saw the description that says “Powder4room is everytime everywhere. From the skin to image it will change and with trendy”. It’s like a quote that I usually find on random stationaries as a kid.

The flap also says “Read instruction before use” but there isn’t any English instruction available on the box or on the bottle. I ended up looking for instructions online. I’m still keen on trying it out ‘cos it’s kinda pricy, too.

HOW TO USE IT

Since this information isn’t readily available in English unless you check websites and/or use a Google Translator to translate what’s indicated in the packaging, here’s a simple guide:

  1. After cleansing your face, spray it to smoothen skin texture and boost adhesion.
  2. Let it dry before applying makeup.
  3. Spray it again to lock in the makeup on your face.

SCENT

There’s a strong alcohol-like scent at first but it eventually gets overpowered by a faint powdery or floral-like smell, which I really like. The scent easily disappears so it won’t be an issue for those who prefer unscented setting sprays.

WEAR TEST

Left – 2 PM ; Right – 1 AM

I first applied makeup around 2 PM and was able to take another photo past 1 AM over the weekend. Upon applying my makeup – foundation, oil-based blush, eyeliner, and lipstick, I noticed that the color of my blush and lipstick were a bit bolder this time. And after a few hours of commute and walking around the mall, true enough, I was able to survive almost 12 hours with everything except my lipstick intact. Worth noting that not even a setting spray can make a makeup withstand oily food on your lips. Here are photos for comparison:

When I used my makeup remover that night, I was able to wipe away more foundation than I usually do when I don’t use a setting spray. It does prove its strength on this part, especially since I did sweat a bit during the past 12 hours.

This product delivers what it promises, though I’d need to use it longer to see if it really does moisturize the face. To take it to the next level, maybe a longer wear test outdoors can test its limits!

Do we recommend it? Too early to say. Is it effective? Definitely on a regular day indoors, at least. We’ll keep you updated via our social media pages so don’t forget to follow Manila Millennial on FacebookTwitter, and Instagram!
