However, it’s challenging to find budget-friendly products that are non-sticky and natural-looking as most products tend to leave a white cast on the skin. Althea Petal Velvet Sunaway
Althea, a cosmetics and beauty company from Korea, recently launched their new Althea Petal Velvet Sunaway + Althea Petal Velvet Powder line that is set to address our sun concerns. INGREDIENTS + EFFECTS
This invisible sunscreen is formulated with Damask rose extracts, ensuring that your skin stays fresh and hydrated throughout the day without any streakiness or a white cast. It has an SPF of 50+ and PA++++ for 12 hours protection from the sun. As part of the Petal Velvet line, it also contains micro-powder particles that give off a smooth, petal-like complexion.
Althea Petal Velvet Sunaway’s main ingredient does wonders to the skin. Damask rose extracts help moisturize and smoothen the skin. This rose has a natural nanomolecular composition that is rich in vitamins that penetrate deep into the skin, provides a soothing sensation, and strengthens it for a radiant glow.
SHADES
The Petal Velvet Sunaway comes in only one color – white, but it doesn’t really matter because it just blends in well with any skin color. The Petal Velvet Powder, on the other hand, comes in three shades – Warm Beige, Pink Lavender, and Translucent.

Personally, Translucent is my favorite among the three but I also use Warm Beige at times when I feel like my skin’s too pale. Pink Lavender can be handy when you want just a touch of faint pink on your cheeks.
APPLICATION
Shake it very well before application. After putting some sunscreen on my palm, I place some on my forehead, cheeks, nose, and chin for even application. Using my fingertips, I spread it until all areas are covered.

This is best used in the morning or before sun exposure DAILY. It’s suitable for all skin types so no need to worry.

Althea Petal Velvet Sunaway and Petal Velvet Powders
Let’s first talk about the smell. This is my favorite part of the product – both sunscreen and powder. It has a floral scent that isn’t super strong so you’ll also get to enjoy the relaxing smell throughout the day. Both are super lightweight so I can’t even tell if it’s still there after hours under the sun! The powder is super handy, especially for someone like me who loves carrying small bags. It even fits in my pocket, which makes retouching easy-peasy.
In terms of coverage, I love how this doesn’t leave a white cast no matter what your skin complexion is. It’s easy to set with the Petal Velvet Powder (Translucent), too. My face didn’t get super oily even though I’ve been exposed to the sun. Also, it’s cruelty free!
Still using it underneath light makeup and I loooove it!
The only downside to the Petal Velvet Sunaway is that you have to shake it very well before using or else you’ll end up squeezing out a water-like substance. Well, that’s the reason why they included this instruction on the bottle. Despite this, I still do recommend it not only for millennials in the Metro, but also for everyone who spends a lot of time under the sun! Just a quick reminder, though. It may cause an inconvenience but I do highly recommend that you bookmark the product information from Althea’s page so you can get instructions in English. The packaging has instructions in Korean so I do hope this review and guide can also be helpful!
