Attention, millennials (and non-millennials) of the South: Our kitchen dreams are finally coming true, one by one. No need to go too far when buying items in bulk and big sizes. Just take a roadtrip down Pasay City where Restaurant Depot is waiting to provide us with our kitchen needs.
In case you haven’t been in the loop, Restaurant Depot is a membership-only warehouse club for people who are in the foodservice industry – home bakers included. Similar to other exclusive clubs, membership gives you access to a large selection of ingredients, food supplies, and kitchenware in a convenient shopping format where buying in bulk translates to big savings. However, there are 8 things that makes Restaurant Depot stand out of the crowd:
1. Membership is FREE!
Unlike other warehouse clubs we’ve been accustomed to, signing up as a member of Restaurant Depot doesn’t call for extra bills out of our wallets. Anyone who loves to cook and bake can simply approach the club’s Customer Service Representatives, sign the application form, and receive a membership card in a few minutes.
You can also apply online via their website and claim your card during your first visit. Guards will be looking for your membership card upon entry.
2. Savings come in BIG sizes
Don’t expect to see a lot of small packs in this depot. Most of the items here are sold in party size that is also perfect for the holidays! This way, customers will be able to save more money and get more of the products they bought. Staying true to their tagline: “Where savings come in big sizes.
3. Wide selection to choose from
Their isles are divided into 15 categories – Fresh and Frozen, Processed, Baking Items, Oil, Dry Goods, Dairy, Canned Goods, Noodles and Pasta, Spices, Beverages, Sauces and Condiments, Packaging, Cleaning, Tableware, and Kitchenware. They have a good mix of both local and international brands on their shelves, so keep those eyes peeled for rare finds.
“It’s like a food service grocery,” explains Marge Tieng from Restaurant Depot’s Marketing Department. “There’s no one pure competitor for us because our concept is a little bit of everything. That’s what we wanted so somebody who’s starting out or somebody who’s managing their business can go to this one-stop shop to get all the items they need. Normally, you’d have to drive to the supermarket, the [public market], and some specialty shops to complete all your needed items. Here, it’s more convenient.”
4. Accommodating staff
If you’re worried about dropping huge boxes while getting some from the shelves, scratch that thought and leave the task to Restaurant Depot’s friendly staff. They’re ready to lend a helping hand at all times (We saw it with our own eyes). Just don’t be afraid to ask for help!
5. Budgeting and shopping made easy
Customer Service Representatives can help you with your shopping list. If you’re looking for recommendations that can fit your budget, all you need to do is ask. According to Tieng, some of their customers are usually in the hurry so they help by reserving items, arranging pickups, or even deliveries through the customer’s chosen courier.
6. Special occasions are celebrated in a BIG way
Aside from big savings, they have just celebrated their first anniversary on Tuesday (December 12, 2017) by going the extra mile with additional discounts. Food connoisseurs also had booths for free tastes; and cooking demos from Dutche, Knorr, Sebourne, and Menu were held at the lobby.
“We already have low prices everyday so we never usually go on sale,” shares Tieng. “But because it’s our anniversary, we have a lot of 12% off items.”
That’s 12% off and P12 off your favorite items in BIG sizes! In case you missed it, we can still be on standby for surprise offers and possibly during their celebration in 2018.
7. They’re open every day
Restaurant Depot is open from Monday to Sunday, 8:00 am to 7:00 pm. Their pioneer store is located at 2738 F.B. Harrison Street in Pasay City, just near EDSA (side going to Mall of Asia) and a block away from Roxas Boulevard.
8. Cooking tips are available on their Facebook page
Not all shops are active on social media! At least Restaurant Depot is techy enough to supply you with food for thought as well. Follow them if you want to see food-related tips and tricks on your Facebook Newsfeed. This way, you can get updates about their latest offers, the new food stalls within the vicinity, and cooking reminders that you can save on your mobile phone.
Join us in wishing Restaurant Depot a happy anniversary! We’ll surely come back to re-stock our items at home. Visit their website and social media pages for more details:
