TechLife Pad Lite 8” Review: Can a Php 4,999 tablet keep up with a multitasking freelancer?

Not every task needs a laptop. Not every break should be spent on your phone. Sometimes, the most productive moments happen when you have a handy little device that fills the gap between the two — just like the new TechLife Pad Lite 8”, a tablet designed for everyday multitasking, learning, and light entertainment. However, with a very affordable price tag, can it keep up with a multitasker’s life?

As someone who juggles multiple freelance gigs as an advertising content consultant, contributes to news coverage as a reporter, and dabbles in aerial arts during my downtime, I found the TechLife Pad Lite 8” surprisingly useful in ways I didn’t expect.

Inside the Box

The TechLife Pad Lite 8” comes with everything you need to get started: The tablet itself, a detachable stand cover, a USB Type-C charging cable, and the power brick. Simple, straightforward, and practical. The inclusion of a detachable stand is a major plus for hands-free tasks like reading scripts or watching performance pegs. The size is just right vs accessories from third-party stores!

Display and Design

First, let’s talk about portability. This 8” tablet comes in Champagne Gold and Lilac Purple. Both stylish picks that can match your everyday fit or your work bag, but I personally prefer the purple hue for a pop of fun color in my everyday bag. It only weighs 337.9g and is just 8.5mm thin, light enough to carry around without feeling like a burden (unlike most laptops).

Its 8-inch HD display (800 x 1280 pixels) with a 90Hz refresh rate in front offers a decent viewing experience for reading documents, reviewing social media scans, or streaming videos while commuting. The detachable stand makes it even more convenient when you want to switch from handheld scrolling to watching mode at your desk or canteen table.

On the right side, you’ll find the volume rocker button and lock/unlock which doubles as an on/off button. The primary speakers can be found at the bottom, while the top houses its USB-C port, SIM tray, and 3.5mm headphone jack.

What sets this apart from other compact tablets is its free stand which can be removed if you don’t need it. This makes watching horizontally or vertically easier when you’re using a table.

Storage and Performance

Under the hood, the Pad Lite 8” is powered by a 1.6GHz Unisoc T606 octa-core processor and 4GB of RAM, which is expandable by an additional 4GB via software for a total of 8GB RAM. With 64GB internal storage (expandable up to 1TB via microSD), you have plenty of room for files, scripts, videos, and reference photos. I’ve been using it to watch my aerial videos recently and it does give me a better view at things I need to fix vs. my phone’s small screen.

It runs on Android 15, giving us access to the latest apps with improved privacy, security, and compatibility. For me, that means running Google Docs, Canva, and social media platforms without hiccups, all while streaming music or videos in the background.

Unlike Wi-Fi-only tablets, the TechLife Pad Lite 8” supports 4G LTE and dual SIM standby, meaning I can still access my work apps, cloud files, and group chats via mobile data. It also supports VoLTE calls, which is a bonus for clear phone calls on the go.

Other thoughtful features include dual stereo speakers, a 3.5mm headphone jack, and Google Kids Space — ideal for parents looking for a tablet that doubles as a safe learning space for their kids.

Camera

The tablet is equipped with 5MP front and rear cameras, both good enough for casual video calls or snapping quick shots of notes and documents. While it won’t replace your smartphone camera, it gets the job done for work-related visuals or checking your frame during online interviews and meetings.

Battery

For me, one of the strongest points of the TechLife Pad Lite 8” is its 6000mAh battery. I used it from morning until late evening on one charge — reading scripts on the way to the office, reviewing content plans between meetings, learning through aerial tutorial videos during my downtime, and scrolling through my social media feed or watching movies before bed.

It promises up to 7.5 hours of streaming, 6.5 hours of local video playback, and 29.5 hours of music with the screen off. Charging takes about 4 hours with its 10W Type-C charger, and it even supports 5W reverse charging (which means you can charge your other gadgets through it in case a powerbank is not available).

Price and Availability

The TechLife Pad Lite 8” is now available in the Philippines for only PHP 4,999 — a sweet spot for students, freelancers, creatives, and anyone looking for a budget-friendly tablet with practical features.

Whether you’re a working millennial hopping between deadlines, a student in search of a learning buddy, or a hobbyist who enjoys reading and discovering new things online, the TechLife Pad Lite 8” makes a great supporting device. It doesn’t replace your laptop or phone, but it fits perfectly in between, helping you manage tasks, learn something new, or just unwind after a long day.

Only proves that you don’t need to spend a fortune to stay connected, creative, and productive on the go!
