TechLife Pad Plus 12″: Big screen, big storage, small price tag

Let’s be real: Summer in the Philippines doesn’t just mean beach trips and road adventures. It’s also the season for long commutes, lazy afternoons, and finding new ways to unwind (or get things done) without breaking the bank. Whether your definition of unwinding may be binge-watching shows, reading an e-book, playing online games for hours, or just keeping a toddler pre-occupied during staycations, the newly launched TechLife Pad Plus 12” has officially entered the chat to help you out and it’s only Php 9,999!

Since we know not all tablets are created equal — some with better specs for your lifestyle than others, here’s a look at what it does (and doesn’t do) best.

Inside the Box

The TechLife Pad Plus 12” comes with the basics: The tablet itself, a USB-C charging cable, a small power adapter, a SIM ejector pin, and a user manual. If you pre-ordered or purchased during the launch promos, you likely scored additional accessories like a free keyboard case or folio case, which levels up its productivity game.

Design and Display

Available in three colors — Storm Grey, Sky Blue, and Moonlight Silver, the TechLife Pad Plus 12” instantly looks and feels more premium than you’d expect. The 12-inch Full HD+ 2K display with a resolution of 1200 x 2000 offers sharp visuals that are great for video streaming and gaming. With up to 450 nits of brightness and a 180Hz touch sampling rate, it holds up well even under outdoor light, and the experience remains fluid whether you’re scrolling through an e-book or playing mobile games. I tried using it by the poolside on a sunny day and the screen remains visible even against harsh lighting.

The screen also supports video streaming up to 2160p on YouTube, which should be good enough for kids who need non-stop Cocomelon and Ms. Rachel videos. The bezels are kept minimal, and despite its large screen size, the device maintains a comfortable grip. The tablet is impressively thin at just 7.6mm and feels light enough to bring anywhere. Kids would probably consider this light, too.

Port-wise, you’ll find a USB-C charging port, a SIM tray, volume rockers, and a power button placed ergonomically around the edges. The dual stereo speakers also enhance the audio experience whether you’re watching or listening.

Storage and Performance

This is where things get surprisingly powerful for a tablet in this price range. With 8GB of RAM (expandable to 16GB via RAM expansion) and 256GB of internal storage, the TechLife Pad Plus 12” handles multitasking like a champ. Whether it’s juggling social media apps, Netflix streaming, or document editing, everything feels smooth. There’s also OTG support for up to 2TB, so if you’ve got files to move, this pad can take it.

Under the hood, it’s powered by a Unisoc T606 octa-core processor, which may not sound flagship-tier, but it delivers consistent performance for everyday use. Combined with Android 14, the system feels responsive and familiar, with customizations that make navigation intuitive.

I did notice a couple of lags when I used it for multiple work files and apps but it does a great job when focused on specific apps like YouTube, hypercasual games, and Roblox. I would suggest using a medium frame rate for games to avoid issues with graphics, though!

Camera

The camera isn’t a headline feature here, but it’s decent enough for quick snaps or video calls. It has a 5MP front camera and an 8MP rear shooter, and both deliver good results in well-lit environments. You won’t be using this for high-end content creation, but for online video chats, scanning documents, or snapping reference photos, the results are good enough.

Battery

With an 8000mAh battery, you’ll get a solid day’s worth of use even with moderate to heavy usage. During testing, we got around 12-13 hours of mixed activity including video streaming, browsing, and gaming. The 18W fast charging support means you won’t be waiting forever for a full charge, and reverse charging gives it an extra edge as a power bank for your phone or wireless earbuds.

The standby time is also impressive, making it a reliable device to have on hand for spontaneous use. It balances power and portability well.

Price and Availability

The TechLife Pad Plus 12” retails for Php 9,999 but expect a price drop as low as Php 7,699 during launch promos via Shopee and TikTok Shop. Early buyers also enjoyed freebies like a TechLife Keyboard Case or Folio Case and TechLife Buds Classic 2.

In-store, it’s available at TechLife Concept Stores nationwide. You can also sign up for the pre-order list until May 21 to score additional exclusive deals. From May 22 to 25, in-store buyers can receive additional freebies, too!

If you’re looking for a budget-friendly tablet that doesn’t feel cheap, the TechLife Pad Plus 12” is a decent option. It’s ideal for kids, remote workers (as a cashier log, logistics tracker, and sketchpad, to give a few examples) or even parents looking for a second device at home. With its bright 12-inch screen, large storage, expandable RAM, and long battery life, it’s a handy all-around device for entertainment, productivity, and everything in between.

It’s not trying to replace a laptop, but for everyday tasks and chill summer days? It definitely gets the job done.
