Champs on and off the road: foodpanda hosts Mobile Legends tourney for riders

If you thought foodpanda riders were just your go-to heroes for late-night cravings and milk tea fixes, think again. Turns out, some of them are also dominating the battlefield in Mobile Legends! foodpanda Logistics recently wrapped up its nationwide Mobile Legends tournament dubbed “Panda Legends: Ride & Conquer” where their very own Ka-panda riders went head-to-head not for deliveries, but for mobile gaming glory and almost Php 1,000,000 worth of prizes. It’s a breath of fresh air from the daily grind IRL!

With long hours on the road, it’s not surprising that many riders turn to gaming — especially Mobile Legends, as a way to unwind and reconnect with friends. So when foodpanda announced an official tournament just for them, you can imagine the hype. The tourney rolled out with regional qualifiers, followed by championship rounds, before finally culminating in an intense Grand Finals in Metro Manila.

For the Ka-panda community, this wasn’t just about winning, it was about recognition, bonding, and shared passion.

“Gaming is really a big part of many of our Ka-pandas’ lives,” shared Ron Sanders, Rider Experience Lead at foodpanda Logistics. “We wanted to give them a platform to showcase their skills, have fun, and feel seen—not just as delivery partners, but as individuals with interests and talents beyond the road.”

And based on what the players had to say, the initiative hit the right spot.

Backed by sponsors like GoTyme, DITO, Motivo, and Kawasaki, the event wasn’t just a one-off stunt. It was a reminder of the power of gaming to connect communities, even in unexpected places.

For millennial gamers like us, who grew up seeing esports evolve from PC cafés to full-blown national competitions, it’s refreshing to see everyday workers being included in the hype, especially those who are literally the lifeline of our everyday convenience.

So why am I sharing this? It’s because gaming isn’t just a pastime anymore. It’s culture, it’s connection, and it’s community. And through events like Panda Legends, foodpanda is proving that the MLBB grind is real, no matter where you come from or what gear you ride. Also, the foodpanda riders we depend on also need a bit of me-time (and this tournament is well deserved), so when they’re on the road, make sure to give them some tip or maybe just a warm smile or thank you. It would surely mean a lot! They’re human too, just like you.
