With the recent release of Marvel Studios’ Deadpool and Wolverine, Burger King Philippines has unveiled a delicious tribute to the beloved hero and anti-hero. Named after their relationship (sort of) in the newest movie, the “Best Bubs” burgers are two limited-edition treats in the same colors and – to an extent – a flavor that you would relate with the characters.

Our Marvel-inspired activation is testament to this commitment, inviting Marvel fans and our customers to celebrate their love for beloved Marvel Super Hero characters, as we extend the story beyond the screen and bring it closer to home for fans in the Philippines. We like to think that it brings together the thrill of Marvel adventures with the joy of enjoying a Burger King meal,” says John Velasco, Burger King Philippines Country Manager.

Manila Millennial was able to try both right after we watched the movie and here’s what we can say:

Deadpool’s Chimi-Merc Burger

Just like Deadpool’s vibrant personality, this burger stands out with its red buns topped with black sesame seeds. Inside, you’ll find Burger King’s flame-grilled beef patty, complemented by a unique chimichanga sauce and slices of jalapeños

If Deadpool smacked you in the face (and you enjoyed it), I think it would feel like biting into a Chimi-Merc Burger. The chimichanga sauce and slices of jalapeños are explosive in a good way! It was love at first bite for me. The mix of Text-Mex flavors also go well with a side of fries, onion rings, or hash bites.

Wolverine’s Bacon-Claw Burger

Next, the Bacon-Claw Burger pays homage to Wolverine, featuring vibrant yellow buns with black sesame seeds. This burger is packed with a juicy flame-grilled patty, layers of melted cheese, and crispy bacon. It’s a savory delight that perfectly captures Wolverine’s rugged charm and serious vibe. Something for those who would like to play safe when it comes to food.

The only downside about the Bacon-Claw Burger is that it needs to be eaten right away once it’s served, assuming it’s served right off the grill. Its cheese would harden right away, making it seem like the usual sliced cheese from the market when you let it cool!

These limited-edition burgers start at Php 159 (solo) and are available at Burger King locations across Luzon, as well as select stores in Iloilo and Davao until August 31, 2024. They’re also available via Grabfood and Foodpanda, ensuring you don’t miss out on the offer!

Verdict: The Best Bubs Chimi-Merc Burger is a sure winner for me as a Tex-Mex fan. For me, Burger King did a great job in thinking of flavors akin to Deadpool and Wolverine’s personalities. It would have been cooler if they offered limited-edition merch, though! Anyway, 10/10, I will go back and order more Chimi-Merc in the coming weeks! As for the Bacon-Claw, maybe I’ll give it another try when I dine in.
