realme C67: 108MP camera, aesthetics on point within a Php 10k budget

It’s already 2024. We have to face the fact that most smartphones are built for versatility and productivity. Gotta respect the hustle, right? Choosing smartphones has become more than just about gaming—it’s about finding a versatile all-rounder that combines style, functionality, and affordability. Enter the realme C67 — the latest addition to the realme C Series and dubbed as the “Champion Redefined.” Packed with features like a Snapdragon 685 processor, a 108MP 3x In-Sensor Zoom Camera, and an ultra-slim design, the realme C67 aims to set a new standard in the entry-level smartphone market. But is it something that would fit your lifestyle? Read on to find out.

INSIDE THE BOX

The realme C67 doesn’t differ that much from the rest of the C Series smartphones. Its only difference from the C65 is the new tag line you’ll find on the box which says “Make it real”. The rest are the same – layers containing the unit, a charging adapter, USB Type-A to Type-C cable, SIM ejector pin, clear protect case, and user manual with warranty card. Clean and no fuss.

BUILD AND DESIGN

Inspired by the beauty of nature, the realme C67 comes in two eye-catching colors—Sunny Oasis and Black Rock, which features a unique 420nm Three-Color Gradient Coating Process. The review unit we got is the Sunny Oasis – a light-green like color that represents more of the “oasis” part. I was expecting something yellow because of the word “sunny” but the name works too, given how there are hints of bright yellow on specific angles. This coating process creates a mesmerizing effect when light hits the back of the device, showcasing 60,000 individual stripes that shimmer and shine at different angles. The attention to detail extends to the camera module, which features an embedded “Dual Golden Lens Mount” with gold-colored halo rings around the lenses, adding a touch of elegance to the sleek design.

With a thickness of just 7.59mm and a weight of 185 grams, the realme C67 fits in our hands really well. I can even hold on to it the entire day! Additionally, the squared-off body with 90° angles for each rounded corner not only adds to the device’s aesthetics but also enhances its ergonomics.

The back part looks very clean with just a small realme branding on the lower left corner and the camera module with edges similar to that of a wrist watch. The overall look just adds to its elegant appearance!

On the right side of the device, you’ll find the volume rocker button and fingerprint unlock scanner that doubles as a power button. While on the left, you’ll find the SIM tray that can house 2 nanoSIMs and a dedicated microSD slot. At the bottom, you’ll find its speaker grilles, a USB Type-C port, microphone, and 3.5mm audio jack. Pretty much similar as its predecessor so it’s easy to memorize where the stuff are.

DISPLAY

In front, the realme C67 boasts a 6.72″ IPS LCD Display with a high 90Hz Refresh Rate and a 180Hz Touch Sampling Rate, delivering a decent and immersive viewing experience. The display features an FHD+ Resolution of 1080×2400, ensuring vibrant colors and sharp visuals. With thin bezels and a screen-to-body ratio of 91.4%, the realme C67 offers an expansive viewing area that’s suitable for streaming movies, playing games, or browsing social media.

If there’s one thing I can change in the display of this device, it would be the thick bottom bezel. Everything on the outside looks good, except for that part, but considering the price, I honestly wouldn’t mind that much.

CAMERA

On to our favorite part of the smartphone: The cameras. Despite being a budget smartphone, the realme C67’s camera capabilities exceeded what I initially expected, thanks to its advanced 108MP 3x In-Sensor Zoom Camera. Equipped with an HM6 Sensor, the device captures decent photos, even in low-light conditions. Too bad it doesn’t have ultra-wide options for our Gen Z 0.5 Selfies though.

The dedicated 108MP Mode in the camera app’s options allows you to capture high-res photos, while embedded features like Street Mode (24mm, 72mm, and 120mm), Tilt-Shift (1x and 2x), and Dual-View Video add versatility and creativity to your photography. Electronic Image Stabilization (EIS) ensures smooth and blur-free photos and videos, even when shooting on the go.

You’d be able to take zoomed photos up to 10x but I would honestly recommend using it up to 3x only as it starts to look grainy past this mark. This isn’t a smartphone for taking moon photos, okay?

In front, you have an 8MP camera which is good enough for selfies, even when you’re indoors. There’s also a Beauty Mode for instant face-enhancing effects but it’s too obvious so I’d rather keep that disabled.

While I’m not a huge fan of its Video Mode due to its slow auto focus, I do appreciate that it has 720p and 1080p modes with Ultra Steady support that makes the output good enough for social media content uploads.

PERFORMANCE AND STORAGE

At the heart of the device is a Qualcomm Snapdragon 685 processor – an chipset that enables seamless multitasking, minimal gaming, and everyday use. The 6nm architecture ensures power efficiency, allowing the device to support a range of features and functions without compromising on performance. With dual-SIM support and up to 8GB of RAM, the realme C67 is equipped to handle a busy lifestyle (that doesn’t involve being busy with heavy gaming) with ease.

Like previous releases, the realme C67 comes with bloatware and pre-installed apps that Filipinos don’t normally use but that’s easily solved by uninstalling. It runs on Android 14 with realme UI – a clean and simple interface. This makes the appearance of the Mini Capsule 2.0 status bar stand out, similar to its iOS counterpart. The latest version shows up not just during charging, but also notifies you for music, events, weather, data usage, and step stats.

It also has good enough storage options, with variants available in 128GB and 256GB. The device also features Virtual RAM technology, allowing it to use a portion of its internal storage as RAM for improved usability and performance. With 256GB of internal storage, you’ll have plenty of space to store photos, videos, music, and apps, ensuring that you never run out of storage space. It would be able to compete with models in the Php 15k mark so I can confidently say that it’s value for money.

I’ve binge-watched shows and KPOP MVs on this smartphone with audio on full blast to test it out and while it does vibrate a bit when on full volume, the audio quality is similar to portable speakers you can find in department stores (if you know what I’m saying). Decent and equally distributed as it has dual-speakers on the top and bottom portions. You can always plug in earphones for better audio quality, though!

BATTERY

Earlier, I mentioned that the realme C67 can keep up with a busy lifestyle. Part of what makes that possible is its 5,000mAh battery that can last for up to a full day of around 18 hours of regular use. The device supports 33W SUPERVOOC Charge, allowing you to charge from 0% to 50% in just 26 minutes, and from 0% to 100% in 73 minutes. This ensures that you spend less time tethered to a charging cable and more time enjoying your favorite activities on the go.
