IN PHOTOS: PUMA AW23 collection preview ahead of its July release

Have you ever seen a runway inspired by the streets and humans of Manila? Global sports brand PUMA did just that at the exclusive preview of its autumn/winter collection, which will be available in the Philippines starting July. While we don’t have autumn and winter, the showcased pieces seem wearable during dry and rainy seasons in the country. The AW23 collection includes a range of activewear fitted for both sports and street style-savvy Filipinos.

More than just a fashion show: #ForeverFaster, elevating purpose

PUMA unveiled its AW23 collection on a Manila-inspired runway last Wednesday (April 19, 2023), celebrating Filipino bravery, confidence, pride, and resiliency. The show highlights the captivating stories of Pinoy courage witnessed on the streets of Manila — including a call for women empowerment and job opportunities — capturing the essence of our culture.

“For 75 years, PUMA continues to push sports and culture forward by challenging conventions, innovating through design, and supporting the next generation. Through history, culture, performance and design, PUMA is committed to being FOREVER FASTER” PUMA South East Asia General Manager Sanjay Roy explained.

The brand’s first-ever fashion show featured Pinoy movers, breakers and game-changers in the Philippines, representing the brand’s four core values — Pinoy bravery, confidence, determination and joy – the same core values under the brand’s FOREVER FASTER mantra.

Also spotted on the runway were former motorsports and racing driver Marlon Stöckinger, Miss International 2016 Kylie Verzosa, and actor Daniel Matsunaga.

Adding another first to its growing list of local achievements, PUMA revealed the face of their first Filipino brand ambassador — professional basketball player Kai Sotto. At the preview party, the brand surprised its guests with a short video message from the star athlete, greeting his Filipino fans.

PUMA also opened its first flagship store last November 2022 in Glorietta, Makati City and now has 22 franchise stores nationwide. As part of its expansion plans in the market, the German sports brand will open a few new stores this quarter, serving more PUMA’s fans in Metro Manila, Laguna and Cebu.

“The Philippines, being a nation of loyal sports fans and fashion-savvy consumers, has so much potential and presents a lot of wonderful opportunities for the brand. This was a major factor in our decision to come in stronger as a full-on subsidiary and increase our presence in every aspect of the business,” said PUMA Philippines Country Manager Paolo Misa.

I can’t wait to get my hands on the upcoming pieces! The ones in orange and green hues really caught my attention. Which ones are you eyeing to cop? Let us know in the comments section!
