Seeing Maybelline’s ads featuring their new Lifter Gloss with Hyaluronic Acid really blew my mind. I’m no stranger to the world of Hyaluronic Acid and you’ve probably read my previous blog posts featuring it, but seeing it on a gloss which promises instant plumping and moisturizing benefits is just crazy — so crazy that I had to try it!
But first, what is Hyaluronic Acid? This is a substance that is naturally present in our body, especially in the eyes and joints as its main function is to provide moisture. However, there are times when Hyaluronic Acid can be injected in parts of our bodies as “fillers” to address sagging or wrinkling of the skin. It can even be injected inside our lips to make them look fuller and plumper.
This is the reason why Maybelline’s newest and Tiktok-famous product will make us rethink what a lip gloss can do. The Maybelline Lifter Gloss with Hyaluronic Acid claims to be a hydrating and plumping gloss which is able to give lips a plump, fuller, and luscious look while keeping lips well-moisturized and healthy. It comes with an easy-to-use XL wand that makes application easier and faster. The non-sticky formula is also comfortable to wear for long hours vs greasy lip gloss brands, and the shades complement morena skintone.
SHADES AND SWATCHES
There are currently six shades available in the Philippines: Silk, Moon, Petal, Reef, Amber, and Stone. I tried Stone and it looks like an MLBB (My Lips But Better) shade!
TRY-ON
To manage expectations, I recently tried the Stone shade for a day to see if it really delivers what it promises. After applying a generous amount on my lips, I was surprised to see how well it was able to improve the appearance of lines on my lips. I have dry lips so the gloss definitely helped it look healthier in just a few seconds. After a few minutes, I started to feel a slight tingling sensation, which I assume is the Hyaluronic Acid doing its work. And here’s the outcome:
Although the product does not significantly plump our lips in terms of lip size (which injectable Hyaluronic Acid can do), it does help create a fuller look. I was able to list more pros than cons, too:
- It’s intensely hydrating
- It can help blur the lines on our lips
- It’s comfortable to wear and does not feel annoyingly sticky
- Product comes in an easy-to-carry tube
- The gloss comes in different skintone-flattering shades
- Helps make lips appear fuller due to the gloss
- Picture-perfect!
- Good for everyday wear
The packaging and wand design are also super nice! It looks like a premium version of Maybelline’s recent Cushion Matte Lip Tint in my opinion.
The only downside for me is that it can easily be smudged and it’s not advisable to use underneath an ordinary face mask in case you need to go out. I would suggest that you use a face mask with a dedicated space for your nose and mouth so your lippie won’t stick!
Overall, for the price of Php 349, the Maybelline Lifter Gloss is a good option vs going for injectable fillers on the lips. This is a good change, coming from the highly drying matte lippie trend from previous years. Let those pouts shine this holiday season!
In case you want to get multiple shades or give these as a gift, there’s also a bundle of two worth Php 899, which comes with a free pouch. Now available online and in Maybelline counters nationwide. #WorthIt! 🙂
