A new budget-friendly smartphone is here! Brought to us by smartphone brand realme, the quad camera battery king realme 5i has officially been launched on Wednesday (January 29, 2020) in the Philippines. This newest member of the realme 5 quad-camera family is the first ever quad-camera smartphone within the Php 6k segment that packs a powerful Snapdragon processor and large-capacity battery. That’s not all that it’s got, though! Manila Millennial was able to get a closer look at the phone and we’re here to give our first impressions together with the phone’s full specifications.
IS IT REALLY WORTH IT?
For a P6,990 smartphone budget, the realme 5i is definitely worth considering. As someone who deeply values a phone’s capability to aid content creation – especially when it comes to taking photos and videos, I can’t help but notice how the realme 5i delivers features that are also available in more expensive phones. It already has a 119-degree ultra-wide-angle 8MP lens, 12MP main camera, 2MP portrait lens and 2MP ultra-macro lens with Nightscape 2.0 – an imaging algorithm that lets users take clear photos under low lights. For video recording, the realme 5i supports 4K resolution with 240fps slow motion and stabilization capabilities.
With 5,000mAh battery, you’ll already be able to capture moments for an entire day without constantly needing to plug in your charger. In fact, it’s also promising for mobile gamers on a budget. At an affordable price, you can already expect a smooth gaming experience backed by an 11nm octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 665 AI Engine processor and a clock speed of 2.0GHz.
Additionally, the realme 5i is also lined up for the upcoming realme UI upgrade with Android 10 integrated, the latest software update will enhance user experience through a more intuitive control and additional features. For full specs, see below:

Similar to phones within the price range, the realme 5i’s design looks simple. I like its simplicity, to be honest. It comes in blue and green shades that show off realme’s latest sunrise aesthetic that isn’t too flashy. The screen has anti-fingerprint properties, though that’s one of the things I noticed in the phone that I tried – fingerprints still tend to stick on the screens after prolonged use. It’s manageable as long as you have the right type of cloth to wipe it with, though.
When it comes to watching videos and playing games, users will also be able to appreciate the wide screen. The small notch that houses the front camera doesn’t bother me anyway and realme did put an effort in making it smaller than usual.
As someone who is still stuck in the earphones era, I highly appreciate the audio jack found underneath the phone. You can listen via a wired device or connect your wireless earbuds via bluetooth. Plus points!
The cameras are worth every peso, too. I wasn’t able to save a sample but the photos from both the rear and front cameras are good enough for your next social media post.
