January is not yet over but we just can’t wait to fast forward to February! The first month of the year just feels like one whole year in itself already, don’t you agree? Anyway, if you’re as bummed out as we are, here’s a list of new things to watch out for next month – aside from Valentine’s Day plans (regardless if you do or don’t have a special someone). Get your binge-watching essentials ready because the following are coming to your Netflix screens:
1. TITANIC
Available on: February 1, 2020
One of the first movies that I fell in love with – soundtrack, characters, and all – as a kid. Not to mention, one of the first few that made me cry! Starring Leonardo DiCaprio and Kate Winslett, this 1997 movie that had a 2012 3D re-release will be available on Netflix to make our hearts break once more just in time for Hearts’ Day. I still get goosebumps whenever I watch the trailer!
2. MY NEIGHBOR TOTORO
Available on: February 1, 2020
Since My Neighbor Totoro‘s first release in 1988, this giant rabbit-like creature has already been a big hit in Japan! I used to see Totoro in my stationaries and notepads while I was in Grade School, not knowing the bigger story behind ’em. It wasn’t until I was in High School when I had the chance to watch illegally through random pages on the Internet. A Studio Ghibli classic that you shouldn’t miss!
3. KIKI’S DELIVERY SERVICE
Available on: February 1, 2020
Another classic that has been recommended by my peers. I haven’t had time to watch this yet so thank you Netflix gods for bringing this to the streaming platform! The trailer doesn’t say much about the plot but keep in mind that Kiki is one of the first characters that made witches a big thing in the animation world!
4. TO ALL THE BOYS: P.S. I STILL LOVE YOU
Available on: February 12, 2020
People who were able to read the To All The Boys I’ve Loved Before book series (like me) are probably swooning over this! It’s a different experience when you see filmmakers do a good job in giving life to characters like Lara Jean and Peter. I can’t wait to see how they’ll add John Ambrose, another recipient of one Lara Jean’s old love letters, in the picture.

5. DEADPOOL
Available on: February 12, 2020
It’s Deadpool, need I say more?? Crime-fighting, no holds barred, humorous sci-fi/action film that you must not miss. That’s it!

6. JOWABLE
Available on: February 14, 2020
Just in time for Valentine’s Day, Netflix will be releasing another Pinoy film on the platform for everyone looking for “love” and a mature relationship just like Jowable‘s Elsa. We know that not everyone may be fond of Vincentiments’ creations but this particular trailer is just too funny to ignore. I haven’t seen Jowable yet but I’m giving it a chance this February!
7. NARCOS: MEXICO SEASON 2
Available on: February 27, 2020
Exploring the origins of the modern drug war by going back to its roots – something we only see in series like Narcos: Mexico when it should also be applied in real life (oops!). Watch this if you need an idea or two about how it’s like to really go after drug cartels.

8. ALTERED CARBON SEASON 2
Available on: February 27, 2020
If you like futuristic stories that play around what our world could be like at a time when our generation would probably dead, watch Altered Carbon! It’s an American cyberpunk web television series that shows what it’s like if we can transfer our consciousness into a different body. That, plus some crime-solving on the side.
9. PUP ACADEMY
Available on: February 27, 2020
Talking pups, fire hydrant portals, a dog academy, what more could we ask for? Definitely a movie for the kids-at-heart and the entire family. Adding this to the list for days when we just want a stress-free movie playing on the screen. Let’s see how a canine faculty can train pups to become man’s best friend… because why not??
10. #CATS_THE_MEWVIE
Available on: February 5, 2020
I have no idea where I can find a trailer but based on the title, it seems like a pretty good thing to cap off our list! Remember how good Don’t F*ck with Cats was? Well, this one is said to be about how house cats have captured our hearts, paving the way for them to become pop culture icons and darlings of the Internet! Whatever this is, as long as it has real cats, we’ll play it!
