Just when we thought that brands are already on a Christmas break, our favorite smartphone brand proved us wrong by releasing yet another budget-friendly smartphone which seems to be a Christmas treat for those who are on a tight budget. With a MediaTek MT6765 chipset, 3GB of RAM and bigger storage at 64GB, the new Huawei Y6s has an edge to be the next Christmas present for your growing pamangkins or inaanaks.
Manila Millennial witnessed the unveiling of its official price in the Philippines last December 14 at the SM Megamall Activity Center, where Huawei gave away early Christmas gifts to mall-goers through various games and booth activities. We were able to get a closer but not a full test-drive so we can only provide the full phone specifications and our first impressions as of now.
FIRST IMPRESSIONS
The Huawei Y6s looks very simple, unlike the latest phone releases that have flashy colors. It’s only available in two colors – Starry Black and Orchid Blue – which doesn’t stand out if ever you’re afraid that snatchers can easily spot smartphones on the streets. Very safe, in my opinion. It also fits perfectly on your hands and it’s easy to grip it firmly. With the #BiggerStorage that Huawei is highlighting in its marketing materials, the Y6s seems promising for a teen or a student who just needs a phone for keeping track of large files and browsing through social media feeds.
The cameras – both rear and front – also aren’t bad, but for people like me who personally prefer phones that have super clear cameras with different zoom options, it can be quite a bummer. What I like about its camera is its natural look that doesn’t make you look Photoshopped every time you take a selfie. Overall, the features are reasonable for the price!
