How to make a classic Jim Beam Highball + 5 other flavors

If there’s a generation that takes pride in looking for affordable alternatives to save some cash, that would be the millennials. We love enjoying the best things in life without wanting to spend so much. From giant alcohol-infused gummy bears to mixing drinks, our generation knows how to put a twist to every house party that there is! To add more things to your list of DIY ideas, here’s our latest discovery – the classic way to mix a Highball.

We visited the Jim Beam Pop-Up Bar in Bonifacio High Street last Friday (April 26, 2019) and learned this new trick along with five more mixes that are easy to do and enjoy at home.

But first, for those who are not familiar with a Highball: It’s what you call a mixed alcoholic drink that has more non-alcoholic mixer than its alcoholic base spirit. The classic way to make it is with a slice of lemon, but you can also experiment with other flavors. Here’s how you can make it:

Classic Jim Beam Highball

1.Squeeze the juice of lemon wedge and set it aside.

2. Fill the glass with cubed ice. Make sure to keep everything chilled!

3. Pour 1 part of Jim Beam (300 ml).

4. Top-up with 4 parts soda (120ml) -Schweppes Soda Water tastes good. Always maintain the 1:4 ratio of soda water and whisky.

5. Stir only once and gently lift the stirrer.

6. Drop a slice of lemon for additional taste.

To create a Highball with a different flavor: Repeat same steps above and just substitute lemon with a different type of fruit. The six other flavors we’ve tried from the Jim Beam Pop-up Bar are Calamansi, Grapefruit, Yuzu Lychee, Watermelon, and Peach.

Look at those toppings!

Our top three favorites would be the Yuzu Lychee, Peach, and Calamansi! These are all available at the Jim Beam Pop-up Bar for only P120 each. Buying 3 Highball Refreshments will entitle you to one FREE drink!

The pop-up bar is open until around 12 MN on Sunday (April 28, 2019), treating everyone in Bonifacio Global City to a chill night with live band performances and games that entitle winners to get more drinks. Finger food and even heavy meals can be ordered through their partner restaurants – Village Tavern, 205, Alegria, Nanbantei of Tokyo, and Coconut Club. Pringles are also available for as low as P29!

In case you won’t be able to make it to the event, don’t worry because this Jim Beam Highball is super easy to do at the comfort of your own home. Cheers for making it through another week! Let’s drink to that!

Cheers!!
