Bringing together arts, culture, and fashion in diverse ways, fashion designers from the Philippine Fashion Gala 2018 brought their A-game to the runways at Green Sun Hotel in Makati City last Saturday (June 2, 2018). Aside from the unique creations, ‘Lokal’ paved the way for models of different races, gender, nationality, and sizes to come together for an epic collection that proves that fashion doesn’t have limitations.
There were three shows – 4 PM, 6 PM, and 8 PM. Manila Millennial went to the final show to show support for our dear friend Jihan who invited us to the said event. Both young and professional fashion designers were given an avenue to showcase their creations before an ecstatic audience who want to see the grandeur of local culture translated into outfits.
Philippine Fashion Gala 2018: ‘Loka’ featured designs from Adam Balasa, Andrea Liwanag, Belle Villanueva,Bernard Escalona, Bernie Ngwe, Carl, Arcusa, Diana Roderno, Esther Weddings, Exztra, Fhryne Danan, Gim Jude Oliveros, Jacob Casem, Jennica Castro, Jc Roldan, John Legaspi, Jobert Cristobal, Kat Joplo, Kathy Montales, Karynn Hermoso Kim Dayanghirang, Krestien Isles, Mitch E.V., Mio Deang, Nicia Bobadilla, Patricia Gavan, Rommel “Baroq” Salonga, Ranel Espaldon, Sasa Abarentos, Tajah Fuentes, Vince Borja, Yna Mendez, Xioti Chiu, with the special participation of fashion Designers Alliance Manila.
We’re letting the photos speak for the event, but we still hope that more fashion shows will be as open as the Philippine Fashion Gala in terms of how they choose their models. After all, a masterpiece will still look like a masterpiece no matter what the color, gender, size, or appearance of the wearer may be.
