10 Twitter users that nailed their first #280characters post, worth re-tweeting!

Online news and social networking platform Twitter has officially doubled its character count on Wednesday (November 8, 2017) after a trial run on selected users during the past two months. As expected, the rollout comes with both acceptance and disappointment, given that we’ve all gotten used to limiting our words to 140 characters since 2006.

In addition to the character expansion, we can now see a circle that hints how close we are to reaching 280 characters instead of the old countdown. The circle only turns into a number when there are only 20 more spaces left.

While it’s nice to have more room for self-expression, ranting, debating over different topics, and humble-bragging about our day, there are also some users who were not keen on welcoming change. According to Tweets we’ve seen, some would rather have an “edit button” instead of additional space. We’d love that, too, but let’s enjoy laughing at typos for now!

In addition to that, we’ve collated 10 of the best posts with #280characters that are so witty and creative, we can’t help but hit the like or re-tweet button:

  1. Netflix LITERALLY naming 280 characters from their shows.

  1. But of course, that’s too much to memorize. LOL!

  1. A friendly reminder that we can now tweet the entire verse from a song

  1. We are now entitled to spell out every word and number. No abbreviations needed.

  1. Yay for more “creative text” space.

  1. More space to throw shade, too!

  1. We can now put emphasis on our words just like…

  1. We’re never letting go of Bobbie now.

  1. And some are just plain annoying, it’s kinda funny how we brought this upon ourselves.

  1. Oh well, gotta keep it “strong and long” like:

A friendly reminder that we are not required to Tweet long-ass sentences. If you prefer the 140 count, then stick to it. Don’t stress yourself out by adding unnecessary words just to make it to 280… unless you want to be on top of your Twitter game just like the users we’ve mentioned above!

How did you use your first 280-character Tweet? We wasted ours because we’re excited AF. Share yours on Facebook or Twitter and use the hashtag #ManilaMillennial so we can see!
