Here comes the month of umbrellas, coats, and boots! While the rain may trigger that strong urge to be emotional, let’s leave the crying to the skies and stick to singing along with our beloved OPM artists instead. Together with the nostalgia of sitting by the window as you watch the raindrops fall into the lonely streets come the lyrics of eight Pinoy songs about the rain that I’m sure you also know by heart.
Check out these eight songs that you might want to add in your rainy day playlist:
1. Aegis’ Basang Basa Sa Ulan
For the drama kings and queens who will stop at nothing. Heto ako, bumabangon muli.
2. Cueshé’s Ulan
When everyday feels like a rainy day… but it’s just your feelings pouring out. Parang walang katapusan.
3. Ryan Cayabyab’s Tuwing Umuuluan At Kapiling Ka
For the lovestruck couples who enjoy the cuddle weather. Pag-ibig ko’y umaapaw, damdamin ko’y humihiyaw sa tuwa.
(We’ll all get a chance at that kind of love in time!)
4. Apo Hiking Society’s Pumapatak Na Naman Ang Ulan
One of the classics. We’ve been singing this since we were in Grade School, not even knowing what it meant. Care to continue singing the song for us?
5. Rivermaya’s Ulan
Another LSS-worthy song even though we’re sure a lot of you will only be singing the “sa ulaaaaan” part. Sinong ‘di mapapasayaw sa ulan?
6. Aiza Seguerra’s Sukob Na
Themesong of the breezy/smooth/ma-diskarte ones. We’d all love to share our umbrella and rescue that one person from the rain.
7. Itchyworms’ Rainy Day
When you’re missing someone who’s been working tirelessly and the bed is cold a.k.a no-one-to-cuddle-with weather.
8. Jericho Rosales’ Bumuhos Man Ang Ulan
For the hopeless romantics. Magtatagpo rin tayo, magkaiba man ang mundo.
Remember that music video with Anne Curtis? I ship this.
Although the rain may be the primary source of cancelled plans this month and the next few months to come, just remember that there’s a rainbow always after the rain! That sounds like another line from a song. Care to share the songs from your own rainy day playlist?
