Imagine a mix of 50ml Don Papa rum, 100ml fresh coconut water, and a squeeze of calamansi or lime, served over ice. That’s it! That’s exactly what this newest cocktail hack is all about. Refreshing, tropical, and unmistakably Filipino. This cocktail is basically a seaside sunset in a glass, however, its story is what makes it even better.
Meet Don Papa Alon: A Rum With Filipino Soul

Don Papa Rum has always been about storytelling, and this time, the brand turns to the coastal rhythm of the Philippines for inspiration. Don Papa Alon isn’t just a new liquid or layout, it’s a reflection of home — of waves shaping our shores, of the bayanihan spirit, and of moments shared over a drink.
Infused with coconut, jackfruit, and warming spices, Alon draws from the comforting flavors of Ginataang Langka. While it may sound weird at first, it’s actually a creamy, lush spiced rum that feels tropical yet deeply familiar. If we were to describe it through feelings, it’s like golden hour by the sea that keeps you relaxed, grounded, and proudly Pinoy.
“With Don Papa Alon, we wanted to capture not just the flavours of the islands, but the feeling you get in those communities… that deep sense of pride, warmth, and bayanihan that defines us as Filipinos,” shared Angeline Manahan, Marketing Manager of Don Papa Rum.
To celebrate its launch, Don Papa Alon was introduced alongside a special collaboration with Bayongciaga, the Negrense brand by Jav Villaruel known for reimagining the traditional bayong into modern design icons.
When asked why continuing the narrative of being Proudly Pinoy matters, Villaruel reflected: “Proudly Pinoy for me is not just a battle cry or a statement but also a movement to support and be proud to be a Filipino, of things Filipino, of places Filipino and of products made by Filipinos.” Together, the collaboration highlights how tradition and modern expression can coexist—much like Don Papa itself.
Why We Think Millennials Will Love It

As someone living in the city, this might just be the closest taste of island life that we can get. First, it’s versatile. You can drink it neat, on the rocks, or mix it with coconut water for that coastal vibe. Second, it’s proudly local. From flavors to collaborations, everything about Alon and Don Papa celebrate Filipino roots. Third, it’s aesthetic. Think golden‑hour sundowners, tropical palettes, and a rum that looks as good as it taste! Even the bottle looks great on the ‘gram! And lastly, it’s a story in a glass. Every sip connects you to community, craft, and culture.
