After years of watching Hyun Bin charm audiences as Captain Ri in Crash Landing on You, Filipino fans finally got to see him in person and the Korean superstar had plenty to say about his first visit to the country! The actor, who also starred in Secret Garden and numerous blockbuster films, was in Manila last Friday (August 8, 2025) for a press conference and exclusive fan meet at Solaire Resort Entertainment City as its newest ambassador.

“The Philippines has always been on my list to visit,” Hyun Bin shared through a translator. “I haven’t had much time yet to explore, but the way I’ve been welcomed here is truly heartwarming.”

He also mentioned how surprised he was with the warm hospitality and bright energy that he has witnessed so far. He was equally impressed with Solaire, describing the resort as “luxurious” and “prestigious” with staff who were “attentive and detailed.” His private room, with a beautiful view and cozy atmosphere, gave him a well-deserved break between engagements. And yes — he tried adobo for the first time, calling it “very delicious”!

Hyun Bin admitted that while he always knew he had loyal supporters in the Philippines, finally seeing them in person was a moment he had been looking forward to. “I am very excited,” he said. “The love and support that fans give me become my strength to become a better actor.”

He hopes this trip brings him closer to his Filipino fans, allowing them to see a more personal side of him outside of the characters he plays.

On Inspiration, Dreams, and Advice

These days, Hyun Bin draws inspiration from conversations with different people and everyday encounters. He teased an upcoming Disney+ project, Made in Korea, set to premiere later this year.

If he could give his younger self one piece of advice, it would be to “enjoy the moment” instead of always rushing toward the next goal. As for dream roles, he’s eager to try characters he hasn’t explored yet. Perhaps in a movie with a big plot twist!

A Message to his Filipino Fans

“In each and every project, the love and support that the fans give me is definitely a strength for my entire career,” he shares.

And before leaving the stage, Hyun Bin addressed his audience with gratitude: “It comes from the unconditional and unchanging love I have received from Filipino fans. I am grateful and honored. With that love, I want to give back to the Filipino fans through my projects and by becoming a better actor.”

It may have been his first visit to the country, but with the reception he received and the memories he’s taking home, it’s safe to say this won’t be the last time Captain Ri “lands” in the Philippines.

Thank you, Solaire, for bringing him closer to us!
