Behind the Business: HTP Basics and Looca on sustainability, integrating grassroots communities

As people become more conscious about their purchases and the brands they champion, it’s timely to feature local businesses that empower communities and continue sustainable practices. We’ve discovered two purpose-led businesses that need our support to thrive amidst the ongoing pandemic. Meet HTP Basics and Looca — two brands that take pride in being #ProudlyPinoy and in sustaining livelihood among grassroots communities.

Despite being only a year old in the industry, HTP Basics has been offering a wide range of classic fashion essentials that never go out of style. For them, simplicity is key as it’s also the more sustainable route for fashion. What sets them apart from other clothing lines we know is their purpose to help distributors and resellers start their own business by selling high-quality and affordable basic pieces.

On the other hand, Looca Skincare sets themselves apart from competition with their range of products made from gentle, alcohol-free, cruelty-free, paraben-free, and vegan-friendly ingredients that make for a clean and guilt-free skincare routine. Like HTP Basics, they’re open for resellers to help communities jumpstart their own business with Looca as a sister brand.

“HTP Basics and Looca products are manufactured through a third-party local supplier. We also have in-house employees who benefit from our business operations. Since our launch, we have partnered with distributors and resellers who offer our product to the consumers and earn from the profit margin provision from HTP Basics Main Office and Looca HQ,” shares the brilliant team behind the business.

According to HTP Basics and Looca, their business model has helped displaced workers to find a side hustle and support their families while staying at the comfort of their homes. Their Chief Information Officer chose that specific business model to provide livelihood opportunities to more people and share their success with others.

Aside from local opportunities, both brands also look after the environment. For Looca, it’s in producing products that are vegan-friendly, cruelty-free, and paraben-free. Most ingredients that they use are also plant-based and proven safe for the environment. On the other hand, although HTP Basics is a fashion brand, they support slow, easy, and classic fashion. They use high quality materials and they do not throw away excess fabric. Instead, they use it to produce small items such as scrunchies, scarf, and kids’ clothes. For them, “basics will forever remain supreme” and we certainly agree.

Globe Business supports HTP Basics and Looca by providing them digital solutions such as ROPO, which provides end-to-end e-commerce implementation and support from website set-up, design, development, and management to photoshoot services, graphic design, and content creation to expand their presence on digital. They also use GCash for their business to facilitate fast and safe cashless transactions for their consumers.

This holiday season and in the days to come, let’s help support local micro, small, and medium enterprises to thrive. #GiftLocal, #WearLocal as much as we can. <3
