How to make a French 75 holiday cocktail using Santa Ana Gin

Holidays are never complete without a sumptuous feast and a festive drink. To liven and luxe up the festivities this year, how about topping it off with exquisite and aromatic flavors that can help put anyone in a celebratory mood? Just in time for Christmas, we discovered something new that can be used for both cocktails and on-the-rocks drinks! Meet Santa Ana Gin — a gin that combines the distinct taste of delicate floral notes and fresh tropical citrus palate from ylang-ylang, alpinia, caclamansi, and dalandan with traditional gin botanicals.

To whip up a great-tasting cocktail, here’s what you need to do:

Ingredients:

  • 45mL Santa Ana Gin
  • 25mL Lemon Juice
  • 20mL Simple Syrup or Honey
  • Champagne
  • Lemon Twist for Garnish

How to prepare:

  1. Pour Santa Ana Gin, lemon juice, and a simple syrup/ honey into a cocktail shaker.
  2. Add ice and shake hard for 15-20 seconds.
  3. Double strain into chilled champagne flute.
  4. Top with champagne and garnish with a lemon twist.
  5. Enjoy and have fun!

The result of this mix is an effervescent and luscious cocktail that fittingly mingles the decadent worlds of East meets West and 1920s meets 2020s. Tracing its roots in 1915 Paris, the classic French 75 was created by Harry MacElhone of Harry’s New York Bar. It’s been said that the cocktail was named so because the combination delivered such a hit “it felt like being shelled with the powerful French 75mm field gun.” Interesting, right?

Given its floral notes, Santa Ana Gin also works great when used in classic gin cocktails — Gin & Tonic, Dry Martini, and Negroni. In case you need help in whipping up these drinks, check out the recipes via Santa Ana Gin’s website. You can already create multiple drinks for only Php 1,799 (700mL).

On top of the amazing taste, Santa Ana Gin makes every drop a delightful experience because its creators value dedication to high-quality, local produce in making the product. They are currently collaborating with Iba Botanicals in Zambales to also help displaced indigenous farmers.
