TASTE TEST: New Magnolia Gold Label Ice Cream flavors and where to get it

Don’t you hate it when you store a tub of ice cream in the freezer for a few hours and end up with something that is literally hard like ice? I do! That’s why I usually prefer buying single-serve cones or ice cream on a stick when brands forget to put the “cream” in “ice cream”. However, another gamechanger has entered the sweet-tooth arena! Magnolia Ice Cream has officially launched their new Gold Label line last Tuesday (October 26, 2021) and we’re here to share our thoughts about it!

Addressing the lack of “creamy” feeling in most ice creams in a tub, the new Magnolia Gold Label Ice Cream used fresh carabao’s milk which keeps each flavor really creamy despite being stored in the freezer for hours. It’s hard to eat ice cream when it gets too frozen but that’s not the case for the Magnolia Gold Label. I’ve kept three tubs in the freezer for over 24 hours but the creamy texture remained the same! I guess this is what’s good about using fresh ingredients. In fact, they claim that it’s certified pure with no artificial flavors.

When it comes to ice creams in a tub, Magnolia is one of my favorites since I was a kid. I even got trapped in their AlDub-endorsed flavors hype before! This isn’t surprising as Magnolia has always been a well-loved and world-class brand since 1925.

The Magnolia Gold Label line has two new unique flavors and a leveled up version of our classic favorites. Here are the ones that we know so far:

  • Wintermelon Milk Tea
  • Tablea Yema
  • Kesong Puti
  • Choco Peanut Butter (NEW, made with Skippy Peanut Butter!)
  • Taro White Cheese
  • S’Mores (NEW)
  • Rocky Road
  • Double Dutch
  • Cookies and Cream
  • Avocado Macchiato (one of my faves)
  • Mango Dark Chocolate
  • Ube Keso
  • Turon Dulce de Leche
  • Lette Choco Brownie
  • Quadruple Chocolate
  • Vanilla
  • Chocolate
  • Mango
  • Ube
  • Avocado

As of this writing, I’ve already tried S’Mores, Double Dutch, Rocky Road, Vanilla, Mango Dark Chocolate, Avocado Macchiato, and Tablea Yema. It’s hard to pick a favorite since they’re all super creamy and a legitimate “comfort food” when you just want to chill at home while reading a good book or while binge-watching your favorite series. Good eaten as is, with a cone, with bread (Filipinos love this), or even with bananas on the side.

I’m a huge fan of ice cream with marshmallows, cookies, and other toppings but the S’Mores flavor just swept me off my feet. I think I found my new “bias-wrecker” in this ice cream line! You’ll get choco syrup, toasted marshmallows, and crackers in almost every spoonful – they’re that generous when it comes to ingredients. It’s sweet enough to satisfy your cravings and it feels super light, I think I can finish one small tub in one sitting! In my opinion, it’s definitely a must-try for people who are tired of brain freeze-inducing cold treats.

If you’re not yet convinced, you can also check out what celebrities have to say about this by watching the Magnolia Ice Cream Gold Label launch video! Chefs and restaurateurs Marvin Agustin and Happy Ongpauco-Tiu, beauty queen Megan Young, Olympic gold medalist Hidilyn Diaz, and actor Alden Richards have their own favorites from the list above.
