SWATCHES: Maybelline Color Sensational Ultimatte lippies (all 10 shades!)

We can now say that we have the same lippies as Ryujin, Yeji, Yuna, Chaeryeong, and Lia from KPop girl group ITZY! It’s now easy to cop their makeup looks and be camera-ready with the Maybelline New York Color Sensational Ultimatte Lipsticks, which they are also endorsing as part of their recent collaboration with the brand. Maybelline takes pride in the Ultimattes’ “better than luxury” formula, which makes the bullet lipsticks more lightweight, more plush-matte, and more color-intense.

There are 10 shades in nudes, pinks, and reds – More Almond, More Blush, More Buff, More Mauve, More Spice, More Rust, More Taupe, More Ruby, More Peach, and More Scarlet, which you can check out in this video:

PACKAGING

The lippies come with a plastic wrap to ensure that it won’t get damaged or even opened while in transit to stores or to your home. Unlike previous Maybelline bullet lippies in plain packaging, the Ultimattes have this matte gradient finish. The color outside the packaging is the same as the actual lippie inside so it’s still easy to pick which shade would look good on our lips. It’s slim so it can easily fit in our bags, but it seems too tall for our pockets, though!

HOW IT FEELS LIKE

Maybelline wasn’t kidding when they said that it’s “more lightweight”. It does feel air-light, but the color payoff is A+! Compared with other bullet lipsticks, the Color Sensatonal Ultimattes look more matte but it doesn’t emphasize the lines on my lips – probably due to the “rich blur technology” that they’ve mentioned in their marketing materials. The product is blendable and buildable for a more striking color, but it can also be used just in the inner parts of your lips for a gradient effect.

Overall, I would say that it’s worth it for its price. It doesn’t feel tacky and the product doesn’t seem to melt even when worn in humid areas. My only issue would be that it easily gets smudged and erased while eating or while wearing a mask, but Maybelline has a different line to address this concern anyway, so it’s not a big deal for me. I’d recommend the Ultimatte lippies for online meetings when you’re working from home or during quick photoshoots where you’ll need to change makeup looks.

It was super easy for me to shoot the lipstick try-on video above since it’s easy to remove with a cotton pad.

PRICE AND AVAILABILITY

The Color Sensational Ultimatte collection is already available online via Lazada and Shopee, and in Maybelline counters and drugstores nationwide for only Php 299 each. I would suggest that you check out the items through e-commerce sites for now, though!
