SWATCHES: Strokes Beauty Lab Velvet Click Sticks Collection | Pen-like lippies!

Don’t you just hate it when bullet lipsticks snap into two just because you twisted it too much? Or when the lippie melts within the tube because there’s just too much space inside? I do! But with my recent lippie discovery, I’m sure these problems will be a thing of the past. Indeed, as Strokes Beauty Lab puts it: “The new era of beauty is re-dawning with a click!”

Strokes Beauty Lab recently released a new line of premium “click lipsticks” to help consumers #LipItUpAnyDay with its nine gorgeous shades, following the release of its Brow Artist Collection in September.

PACKAGING

What sets this collection apart is its unique, non-retractable feature which ensures that little to no product goes to waste. It’s easy to mistake it for an actual pen and it also has clicking sounds like that of a retractable pen or mechanical pencil, which makes it more appealing for me. The product comes in a neat off-white packaging with empowering phrases like “I am sensible” and “I am compelling”.

The color can only be found at the tail-end of the pen-like packaging, which also serves as the button to click the product out, but it also uses similar shades in the labels so it’s easy to spot.

First-time users should note that the click lipsticks are non-retractable so take it easy with the clicking. The clicking sound is super entertaining but click moderately as the lippies cannot be pushed back inside the tube once it’s out (believe me, I tried)!

FORMULATION

The velvet matte lipsticks are super lightweight, long-wearing, highly blendable and buildable, but they’re not smudge-proof nor transfer-proof. This is okay, though, as each shade is infused with Vitamin E, plant-based Squalane, and Sunflower Seed Oil to help condition the lips for long-term skin smoothness and softness. Even with moisturizing ingredients, the product doesn’t feel icky on the lips – which is a plus!

Like normal bullet lipsticks, the Velvet Click Sticks need to be re-applied from time to time as it tends to easily get transferred or erased when we wipe our lips while eating or drinking.

SWATCHES

There are four shades that look very similar with each other but when applied, they give off slightly different hues. All nine shades complement every skin tone, especially that of morenas, and it’s also possible to mix two or more shades to get the hue that you want since the lippies are blendable.

Top to bottom (red to brown): Viper, Lady Luck, Teresa, Vittoria, Flamingo, Cameo, Contessa, Spice, and Copperhead.

The nine shades are:

  • Viper – An intense red cherry matte
  • Lady Luck – A mid-tone pink mauve
  • Teresa – A classic nude mauve
  • Vittoria – A clay maroon shade. My favorite!
  • Flamingo – A warm pink nude
  • Cameo – A warm orange nude
  • Contessa – A universal nude shade
  • Spice – A red taupe shade
  • Copperhead – A velvet cocoa brown shade. Another favorite!

My personal picks would be Copperhead since I’m a fan of dark brown shades, Vittoria for that dark maroon touch, and Contessa for a natural everyday MLBB (my lips but better) look.

PRICE

Designed in California and made in PRC of responsibly sourced global ingredients, the cruelty-free and high-grade quality products are being offered at an affordable price of Php 398 per shade and Php 3,148 for a set of nine via strokes.ph, Shopee, and Lazada.

These easily fit in my makeup pouch and I’m super happy about the innovative design! Looking forward to see more makeup products that Strokes Beauty Lab will be releasing next.
