The weather can sometimes be too harsh on our skin. When it’s too hot or too cold, our skin tends to lose so much moisture to the point that it ends up with dry blotches in certain areas or worse – all over. As someone with sensitive skin that dries out easily, I make sure to always have something in my skincare regimen that can moisturize my face when needed. Due to my problem with face masks leaving parts of my face feeling super oily at times (I have combination skin), I tried out two new products that can be used on targeted spots as needed. Here’s our new discoveries: ALTHEA’s Skin Relief Calming Cream and Waterful Green Bamboo Pads!
Althea Skin Relief Calming Cream
Although primarily used to soothe/calm the skin through thorough hydration, the Skin Relief Calming Cream also promises to reduce skin damage caused by harmful environmental factors (temperature, pollution, etc.). It takes pride in its key ingredients – Panthenol (changes to Vitamin B) for hydrating, plus leaf and fruit extracts for soothing the skin. Recommendable for people with dry skin!
It has a strong scent – like a fruity-leafy scent with a touch of shea butter. It disappears as the product gets absorbed on your skin so no need to worry about having a lingering scent on your face.
The packaging is also very simple and easy to use; however, there are no English instructions on its box. Everything is in Korean so you’ll have to read through the details on Althea’s website or just bookmark this post.
Application: Parts of my skin get dry easily but I don’t want the rest to become oily when I over-moisturize, so I just apply a generous amount to the dry parts of my face and tap the excess gently on the rest. You’ll need to wait for a few minutes for your skin to fully absorb the cream.

Althea Waterful Green Bamboo Pads
For those who do not have a lot of time to spare every week for skin care, the Waterful Green Bamboo Pads can be your quick go-to product. These moisture pads help prep the skin with maximum hydration in just one step. It’s packed with a Moist-veil System technology that keeps skin hydrated all day long. Its primary ingredient, Bambusa Vulgaris (bamboo extract), has minerals and amino acids that hydrates deep down and protects the skin with moisture.
The scent is as soothing as its effects. The leafy scent helps me sleep at night whenever I use this product. When I don’t have time, I use it as a toner but I also use it as a mask pad for dry areas at night. My face feels well-moisturized in the morning, but this time, minus the feeling of oiliness which I usually encounter with similar products.
It’s well-packaged and it comes with small plastic tongs so you can carefully pick each pad without your fingers touching the rest. On top of the box lid, you’ll find all the details you’ll need in English. Easy-peasy!
Application: There are two ways to use it – as a toner pad and as a mask pad. To use it as a toner, wipe it on your skin after cleansing. Start from the center, moving outwards and let it dry. As a mask pad, you can leave it on trouble spots with dry skin for 10-15 minutes in order for your skin to be fully hydrated. You can dab the excess on your face after – just like a normal face mask.
