They’re back! Movie Stars Café is making a huge comeback this year with a relocated hub at Eton Centris in Quezon City. Previously stationed beside the SM Mall of Asia, Movie Stars Café is a unique type of restaurant that takes pride in serving a Hollywood-inspired feast for both the belly and the eyes. From meticulously prepared dishes named after movies and characters to entertaining shows by expert performers, this café has what it takes to bring reel to the real world.
To make sure that you’ll have a 5-star experience that’s worthy of sharing on your social media feed, here are 5 things that you should remember before your visit:
1. Check out the rare Hollywood collections and memorabilia
Not only does this restaurant have life-size figures of different movie characters, they have walls filled with signed photos as well. VIP rooms are also decorated with movie posters of favorite classics and even props inspired by box-office hits. Try to look for your favorite actor’s photo and signature and maybe snap a photo before the night ends.
A lot of “IG-worthy” spots can be found here, but my favorites would be the Alien vs. Predator area, the bar with Darth Vader, and Spider-Man’s statue near the washroom. Don’t forget to use the hashtag #MovieStarsCafe when posting!
2. Watch as performers re-live your favorite movie scenes
Unlike other Hollywood or movie-themed cafés, Movie Stars Café Chairman Mr. Yasunari Okada added a finishing touch to make Hollywood dreams come to life in this restaurant – entertaining and well-choreographed performances that happen every 30 minutes!
During our visit, we were able to witness musical performances based on Spider-Man, The Matrix, Batman and Robin, and a mix of our favorite anime characters during the MSC Cosplay segment. There are new performances every week and expect to see Rurouni Kenshin, One Piece, The Greatest Showman, Barbie: The Princess & the Popstar in the list. After each segment, performers interact with the customers for a share-worthy photo on social media.
3. Take photos at these IG-worthy spots and with cosplayers
Making the night more memorable, the performers at Movie Stars Café were nice enough to strike a pose for the camera and even patiently take selfies with guests. I’d recommend you take photos with Spider-Man as he will gladly suggest poses for you! How many of these characters can you name?
4. Get the best spots available
At the center of the establishment, the stage is strategically built similar to that of a theatre platform to provide an optimum view of the restaurant’s well-known and remarkable shows. A huge LED screen was also installed in the middle, adding a thrilling flair to every story that the guests will see on stage. The 1,711-square meter area can accommodate up to 330 guests.
Manila Millennial recommends you to book your visit earlier and reserve a spot near the center or the stage if you want a better view of the performance or get a VIP room if you want private conversations with friends while being surrounded by movie-themed items. There are six spacious VIP rooms, each with a capacity to welcome 10 guests. For private celebrations, these rooms can be converted into two big areas that can entertain 30 guests each.
5. Order great food before anything else
Ordering here is as high-tech as Hollywood effects. The menu can be accessed through an electronic tablet at the center of each table so you can just punch your order instantly. Different cuisines, such as Italian, Chinese, Japanese, American, and Filipino are available and they’re named after characters and movie titles!
Check out our favorites –Sizzling Ursula (Squid Sisig), Rebecca (Tenderloin Steak), and Maleficent (Strawberry and Cream Mousse). Other crowd favorites include Karate Kid (Karaage), Pocahontas (Clam Chowder), and The Green Mile (Broccoli Salad). For those craving a heartier meal, the sumptuous Mamma Mia (Bolognese), the meaty Space Balls (Meatball pizza), the char-grilled Whiplash (Bacon and Mushroom Burger), and the laboriously seasoned Rebecca (Tenderloin Steak) awaits hungry visitors. Meals are quite pricey at around P500 for a complete set but think of it this way: You can stay as long as you want and there’s no entrance fee! Each plate is also bursting with flavors so it’s definitely worth it!
