Art Fair PH 101: Sneak peek and things you need to know before you visit

And just like that, February is almost over! Before the National Arts Month ends, of course, it wouldn’t be complete without the annual Art Fair PH exhibit at The Link Carpark in Makati City.

Set to happen from February 21-23, this year’s #ArtFairPH is back at exhibiting and selling a mix of modern and contemporary pieces created mostly by Filipino artists and curators. There are 61 exhibitors this year and three new sections to explore – ArtFairPh/Open Studios, ArtFairPh/Film, and ArtFairPh/Incubators.

WHAT TO EXPECT

As always, Art Fair PH brings together every kind of art you can think of – from art on canvas to sculptures made out of recycled materials. It’s better to experience and see all the exhibits and installations in person but here’s a sneak peek to keep you hooked:

Art in the Time of Hashtags by Andres Barrioquinto under the Secret Fresh Gallery

Opera – Screaming Faces by Gabriel Barredo

Julie Lluch’s life-size Spolarium

by Roedil Roe Geraldo

Shadow Earth by Emmanuel Tolentino Santos

Hanging Meat by Francis Commeyne under SEX at Tin Aw Art Gallery

Experiential exhibit under Jellyfish Kisses

The Outsider of Park Place, Leo Valledor

Payawar by Jojit Solano

Untitled (Journey) by James Clar

by Salvador Joey Alonday

by Ricky Ambagan

WHAT TO BRING

First on the list should be your tickets (and an ID)! Entrance fee is P350, but you can get it for only P150 if you’re a student with a valid ID or P100 if you’re a student studying in Makati. On the other hand, senior citizens and PWDs can avail tickets at a discounted rate of P250. Tickets can be purchased online via PouchNation or at the venue.

Don’t bring a lot of things because it can get a bit crowded during peak hours. Just bring the essentials – mask if you’re feeling sick and alcohol for sanitation are a must!

Lastly, prepare a whole lot of patience and strength because it will surely take you hours to fully explore 5 floors of creative genius. Act like a civilized person and observe etiquette – do not touch the artworks, maintain cleanliness, and observe personal space!

WHEN TO GO

Art Fair PH’s doors will only be open from 10 AM to 9 PM this weekend. We highly suggest that you go in the morning so there won’t be a lot of people. Visitors usually pour in late in the evening.

HOW TO GET THERE

The Link is just across Landmark and Glorietta, so it wouldn’t be that hard to find! If you know where Landmark is, just head to the 4th floor and look for the bridge going to the car park. You’ll instantly find the Registration Booths of Art Fair PH upon entry.

Other options:

  • From MRT via bus or train: Go down the Ayala Station and go through SM Makati heading to Glorietta, then find your way to the 4th level of Landmark. Once you’re there, just ask where the entrance of The Link is.
  • From ParkSquare via FX or jeepney: Just go down at the ParkSquare terminal and head to Glorietta. Look for Landmark and follow the same instructions above.
  • From Buendia via bus: Go down Rustans Glorietta, head to Landmark, and follow same instructions above.
  • Driving to the venue: Use Waze and park your car either in 6750, Glorietta 3 Basement Parking, or Rustan’s Steel Parking.

See you there this weekend! For more updates on must-visit places within the Metro, don’t forget to follow Manila Millennial on FacebookTwitter, and Instagram!
