At this day and age, it’s almost impossible to miss the words “Supreme” and “Anti-Social Social Club” (ASSC), especially while browsing through streetwear feeds on social media. May it be authentic or not, these words were highly linked to “hypebeasts” – a slang for people who are obsessed with hyped-up fashion and trends, almost to a point where it already sounds derogatory. In case you’re wondering how these came to be and what caused all the hype, let us take you to a quick photo tour inside a streetwear heaven in the Philippines – Popcorn General Store.
The newly-opened flagship store in Ayala Malls Manila Bay houses brands like Supreme, ASSC, CHINATOWN Market, Rip N Dip, Wood Wood, Magic Stick, Ise, FR2, Carrots FDNMTL, and BBC. Originally from Hong Kong, this multi-label streetwear luxury retail store would probably be the go-to place of anyone (with a lot of cash to spare) who lives and breathes urban lifestyle. No doubt that going inside the store can instantly encourage anyone to switch to streetwear in a heartbeat… without looking at the price tag, of course! (Disclaimer: Unless you’re super rich).
The store has everything you need from top to toe – from caps to rubber shoes, and all the blings in between.
We also wouldn’t forget to mention the beauty of its fitting room! Although I’ve seen similar designs before, they aren’t as striking as Popcorn General Store’s mirrors that envelope the entire hallway of their fitting area. 10/10 would take a photo first before heading to the counter.
Although the average price of items inside the store play from 4 to 5 digits, we can attest that the prints and fabrics used are worthy of the price tag. After all, it wouldn’t be labeled as a “streetwear luxury retail store” if there’s nothing luxurious about them! I personally love Rip N Dip because of my love for everything cat and alien-related. We’re waiting for a specific design to reach the Philippine shores and we’ll post about it as soon as possible via Instagram so you can see it, too. Check out the prints on their jackets. They’re to die for!!
They also sell collectibles and limited-edition accessories like mobile phone cases, supreme decks, lighters, and keychains.
Bawal Clan and Butta-B also graced the opening of the store with their sick beats and awesome performances!
Located at the 2nd level of the newly opened mall in Parañaque City, Popcorn General Store also has branches in Bonifacio Global City and Makati City. For more details, you can visit their store or their style-filled feed on Instagram and Facebook.
